Advantages: Far better picture than standard composite, better looking games Disadvantages: Expensive, Only needed for larger screens 32" or greater
After the release of the little white bundle of joy on the 8/12/2006 people were given a composite cable to show off their new shinny new console.
AV enthusiasts all know a composite signal is the poor quality option for showing video on their TV's - what people really want is RGB or Component video input.
As console manufactures are out to make a profit they usually bundle the cheapest and most compatible option with the console and then release upgrades to that product for people who need or want it. Nintendo understand this and have released two video upgrade options - the Wii RGB cable or the Wii Component cable.
Lets get things straight from the off, The Nintendo Wii is not a High Definition Console, What this cable does offer is a enhanced image resolution of 480p.
I finally got hold of the component videocable after ...
Advantages: Cheap - does a great job Disadvantages: None
This is a must have accessory for any Playstation 3 owner. The best way to send sound and video to your TV to play in high definition is through a HDMIcable. It is the most reliable and easiest way of doing it. A test recently done on the gadget show proved that a cheap HDMIcable will work just as well as an extremely expensive one. This cable from GAME is one of the cheapest HDMIcables I have seen in the shops and so if a definate buy if you are thinking of getting one. As the Playstation 3 system does not come with a HDMIcable in the box you will probably want to buy one when you pruchase your PS3 and if you are buying it in GAME then you should definitely go for their make of the HDMIcable. Don't bother spending more for the official sony one. They will both look ...
Advantages: sharper/brighter picture, opens up more ports on TV, saves hassle. Disadvantages: quite expensive for a simple console improvement
The Nintendo Wii component videocable really is a sound investment if you are the owner of an HD/ LCD TV, and obviously a nintendo Wii.
Before i bought it, i had trouble with the picture quality and contrast on many of the games. Games such as Wii Sports were fine, but more of the action/adventure games such as Zelda or Splinter Cell give a very dark picture which can sometimes be hard to make out what was happening. The only way i could combat this problem was to adjust the contrast on my television which did help, but was alot of hassle.
With the component cable, the picture is not only much brighter, but much sharper and defined. It gets rid of the hassle of having to turn the contrast back down after playing on the Wii and improves the overall gaming experiance. Another bonus is that on your HD TV, this cable plugs into ...
