Ok where to start, My dad got these speakers quite cheap a while back and since then they have done nothing. My mum thought they were to loud for the kitchen so they sat in a box until I found them!
I was looking for a pair of speakers to go with the turntables and mixing desk I had just got cheap on ebay but I didn't want to spend anything on a pair. My dad took these out of the garage so I looked them up on the internet. I couldn't find them on the JBL site but after searching I found that they were on the JBL pro website and these were actually professional studio monitors. I didn't wait around, I took them off my dad and went to wire them up. A few weeks later I got a set of Wall brackets and I was on my way.

That was 2-3 years ago and these are still my speakers in my room, although me and my dad are making speakers cabinets for a pair of 12 inch speaker cones he has lying in the garage, I don't think my JBL's will be replaced.

-Background-
JBL have been making speakers for over 50 years. They aim to provide precision sound quality that is available to everyone.

-The box-

The box is a white colour with a black top and outlining. It has Control 1X written on the side. The box is just big enough to fit the 2 speakers in it perfectly. The speakers sit into a polystyrene sleeve. I don't know if there are any instructions with these speakers as I didn't get them in a shop and I don't know if my dad has them lying around somewhere.

-Where they can be used-

The Control 1X is a compact personal size speaker so it can be put anywhere, shelf walls (if brackets used) etc. They will fit most hi-fi systems by connecting them with speaker cables (can be picked up cheap) and I can even run them through my computer via a mixer. They will even suit a small home studio or even a proper recording studio.

-Ease of use-

They are quite easy to set-up as you will only need to put a basic speaker cable into the (using the positive and negative sides) and them the other end into a power amp. I have driven these on lots of power amps such as my dads modified quad 404, my Harrison 50 watt amp and my new Mosfet amp and they go well with all of them apart from the Harrison so they do need quite a good amp to power them. They will also need good quality cables to get the best sound available.

-Looks-

If looks where everything with speakers then these would come out best. You can get them in black or ice white. The are mesh covered but you can still se the drivers. They have a small JBL logo on them that can swivel so it is always the right way up. They are all over brilliant and I love them.

-Technical-

For those people that are technically minded, like me, here are some of the specs.
 Max output:160watts
 Amplification Type: Passive
 Connectivity: Wired
 Depth: 5.5 inches
 Height: 9 inches]
 Width: 6.1 inches
 Weight: 5.3 pounds
 Left right channel
 2 channels.

-Other info-
These would be easy to transport as they are quite small, and they come as you see them. I think they are selling for about £80 a pair now on most Internet sites.

-Overview-

Great product, will continue to use them until they where out which is unlikely (I hope).
I highly recommend them to someone who wants a small cheap set of speakers or someone who is looking for class.
5 stars from me.

sorry about the slightly lower rating but there' snothing here at all about the sound quality which is the whole point of speakers! Add that in and I'll happily rerate if you let me know. Apart from that a good solid review.
