I wanted a set of stereo speakers with a sub woofer, but found that they were all to big for my desk area as I only have a little space so these were ideal.
Setting these up was a piece of cake as all the cables and sockets on the sub woofer (this is where all the cables plug into) are colour coded so as to make setup easy. The sub can be placed either on the desk or behind your tower or wherever you want to put it,cause the bass sound is none directional it can be placed anywhere, also the speakers and sub are magnetically shielded which means they can be placed near the monitor without causing interference.
The sub woofer is around 9 in w,d,h and the speakers are 3 in w,d,h and have a little green light underneath them which stops on until the power is switched off.One of the speakers has a + - button on it to increase or decrease the volume,a gently tap increases or decreases the volume while a longer press increases the volume at a faster level. The sub also has a treble and bass knobs on it to adjust the sound but I have found that the bass at halfway is really deep so you can imagine on full what it would be like. The total power of the JBL creature II is around 44 watts which is more than powerfull enough for PC use or you can also use these speakers for connecting MP3 players, these speakers also come in white to complement the Ipod.
First thing I tried was playing a CD on the PC and well I was amazed at the sound, the sound was really crisp and thumping bass(as it was only half way you can feel the floor vibrate) I turned it up further and it was very very loud,I would go as far to say that if you did not own a HIFI and had a PC these spekers would do a better job as the sound was that good,as a lot of HIFI are not as good a sound as the Creature II's.
I then tried playing some music videos through AOL Music Brigade,I picked Happy Mondays Step on and again was amazed the crisp highs of the lady backing singer and the bass was thumping. Some people may find the bass a bit to much but this can be solved by turning it down and this should solve it.I payed £69.99 from Argos for the JBL Creature II which I think is not expensive for the quality you are getting here,if you want a small high quality speaker set that is different to look at as well from the usual desktop speaker sets get these you will definately not be dissapointed, the designed of these speakers is really really different.
