Advantages: Save power and the need to grovel under my desk Disadvantages: none really
go out on my two TFT monitors and the printer and surround sound speakers turn off.
There is also a Powerdown designed for use with your Television, which can take all the peripheral boxes, such as VCRs, Satellite boxes and DVD players out of standby, thus saving a great deal of waste.
These handy gadgets retail for around £15, but it is worth looking on eBay for them, I got mine for £1.20 plus postage, which I think is a great deal.
They are often supplied free to customers of EON and to tenants of some housing associations, I first saw them when I went to do a job at the office of a housing association in Christchurch, where the store cupboard was full of them!

The speaker is 2 way, comprising of a 4" bass woofer and a 1/2" titanium laminate dome tweeter. These speakers also feature a front mounted bass port. When you play the speakers loud its is astonishing the amount of air that is forced out of the bass ports!
The speakers case is extremely tough, I have dropped one of my speakers (accidently, not some extreme test!) from ...
