Advantages: Tidy Speakers. Good Response and Range. Disadvantages: Cable supplied is quite poor.
Having been 'asked nicely' by my girlfriend after we moved in together to get rid of my floorstanders, I began the hunt for a good 5.1 set with and due to having just bought my first house - an incredibly small budget.
I came across this set of JBL's which passed the girlfriend test (looked OK and weren't too big!) and came in within budget.
Now they had to start ticking off my requirement boxes:
Good frequency response 110Hz - 20Hz
Power Handling 160w Peak
Sensitivity 86dB
All of which were more than capable of filling the room I was planning to put them in.
The fittings for attaching to wall brackets are universal and the speakers themselves are not too heavy (0.8Kg) so no fears putting them up on the walls.
The active sub which comes with the set is quite good:
35Hz-160Hz Resonse
100w RMS

Advantages: Great sound, Great looks Disadvantages: No remote control
The JBL On Time is a stylish, high performance iPod dock, RDS radio and alarm clock, available in black or white finish. It's one of the more expensive iPod docks on the market, but as with most things, you get what you pay for and the sound quality is FAR superior to cheaper alternatives (I also own an older Intempo iPod dock which was much cheaper but the sound quality is awful).

After trying it at home, I'm more than happy with both the volume, and the quality of the sound.

Advantages: Excellent sound for an excellent price! Solid build, 100 watts RMS Disadvantages: None for the price!
I have owned 2 pairs of JBL Control 1 speakers and they have never let me down! The first pair I owned I gave to my dad as he liked the sound so much!
These are bookshelf speakers and measure (H x W x D) 227 x 130 x 140 mm. They can be mounted on a stand, on a shelf or you can also order the wall brackets from jbl.
For the size they have an excellent sound, warm solid bass with crisp mid and treble. They are 100 watts RMS and can really handle some power. The speaker is 2 way, comprising of a 4" bass woofer and a 1/2" titanium laminate dome tweeter. These speakers also feature a front mounted bass port. When you play the speakers loud its is astonishing the amount of air that is forced out of the bass ports!
The speakers case is extremely tough, I have dropped one of my speakers (accidently, not some extreme test!) from ...
