Cut The Job In Half
Review of JCB 40cm Electric Rotary by
sylvanian
Advantages: Gets the job done quick
Disadvantages: Heavy to use
...A year ago I moved house from a property with a small front lawn to a property with a very large back garden that was also on a steep slope. Up until moving house I had alawys used a Flymo Microlight hover mower, this had been satisfactory at the time but on moving something bigger and better was needed.
I looked about for something new and different and came across the JCB range.
I bought the JCB EM41 for £119.99. This seemed like a lot to pay so I hoped it was worth it and it definitly was.
When it arrived some parts still needed to be assembled but the instructions were fairly clear although it took me about 45mins to get it set up and i had thought for the money it should already be assembled.
The first time I took it out into the garden I was amazed,
The cutting width was 41cm my flymo was only 28cm so it took only half the time...

From the company that makes the earth move! ..
Review of JCB GS1800 by
smudgeybabes
Advantages: Makes twigs and the like easy to compost.
Disadvantages: Cost is about the only disadvantage..
...When you hear the title JCB, you automatically think of Joseph Cyril Bamford - indeed that is the same company that makes these shredders. The firm was set up in 1945 at the end of the war. They are world famous (based in 150 countries) for making heavy earth moving equipment, and now are setting their sights on smaller bits of kit, in this case, the humble garden shredder.
As already stated, the company has depots all over the world, they are a state of the art, high profile company who keep up with the times. The range of spare parts available is around 80%, this compares very well with other firms.
The shredder itself, is called the GS 1800, which is a little strange, as Black & Decker akso have a shredder called the GS 1800. I did at first think the two firms were sharing the same model, just different badges...
