At Christmas I bought a basketball hoop from JJB Sports for £200. They were offering interest free credit on purchases this size and although I did not particularly need the credit I thought as it was there I would take advantage of it. I paid £20 deposit and needed to pay the rest by direct debit – 6 payments of £30.
I have never ever regretted a decision involving buying any goods as much as I have done this one.
First off the credit agreement is administered by a company called Creation Financial Service Limited of Solihull and if you ever see this name on a credit agreement walk away immediately. They in turn are linked to a company called Equifax Card Solutions also not surprisingly of Solihull. At the risk of repeating myself avoid these people also. It is however unlikely you will notice these names in minute writing at the bottom of the agreement as you may think you are dealing with JJB Sports who are a reputable company.
Do not make that mistake. If anything goes wrong JJB Sports through their Wigan office just do not want to know.
The problem I had initially was that within weeks of setting up the direct debit payment I got a letter demanding £1100 or I would be taken to court. After many frustrating telephone calls they eventually and very casually admitted it was all a mistake. What troubled me further was the letter was from a company called West Midlands Debt. It seems Creation Financial Services had, in error, given all my credit details to a debt collection company who promptly compounded the error by pursuing a spurious debt. This is immensely worrying.
I certainly will never get involved with any of these companies again and that includes JJB Sports. Their attitude was very dismissive and did not care that one of their customers had had such an experience.
To add insult to injury the basketball hoop had some parts missing. Sometimes life is just like that.

Sounds pretty scary!! I hope you either got a refund or eventually got the missing parts! I never used the site myself but will pass on the warning to my sporty-minded friends. Good op! - Dione
