The Doktor Power Magic Eraser by JML is an amazing product. I was very wary of all the hype in advertising and on the internet about it. Many of these products look amazingly easy and effective to use when they are shown in a television demonstration but once you get them home things very often don't go the way the demonstrator did them.
I had heard of these Magic Erasers before under a different brand name, and JML is generally a name that I trust, so I decided to give them a try.
This is a very compacted white, oblong shaped sponge. It feels very dry and smooth but if you run the end of your finger over the block you feel the slightly abrasive texture. This oblong sponge can be cut to any shape and is used without chemical cleaners. You simply dampen the sponge and gently rub. Don't rub too hard though, or your sponge will start to disintegrate.
I have used it on ink stains, pen marks on work surfaces, scuff marks on laminate flooring and it is amazing in the bathroom. You can get into all those nooks and crannies and get everything gleaming. I used it to bring back the shine to old bathroom fittings and to get into that very fine line that you sometimes get between draining board and work surface. An old pair of white trainers with marks all over them actually came up looking quite respectable after a rub with one of these.
My light switches and sockets are all white and shining again as it is really easy to clean them with a barely damp sponge. Door handles got the same treatment much to the amazement of visitors. It is amazing how a quick tour around the house armed with one of these sponges can make such a big difference to the overall appearance of things. (You have to use the sponge, by the way. Carrying it around in your hand doesn't have quite the same effect.)
There is no odour, or colour and you just rinse it under tap and reuse. There is also no need for chemicals or cleaning agents of any kind, so this is an excellent way of cleaning baby high chairs, toys, and for cleaning pushchairs where you can't use water. The sponge only needs to be slightly damp.
The big problem with these is that once they have been used several times, or if you rub too hard, they disintegrate. The JML variety costs £5.99 for a single sponge, so I tend to cut small pieces off it and use it sparingly.
I did find a pack of two similar sponges in our local Poundland for £1 and I must admit that I didn't find much difference, only that the JML did last a bit longer.
This is certainly a product I would recommend. Once you have used it you will be amazed at the difference it makes to cleaning. Those fiddly areas come up sparkling, without too much effort.
