JML SALON STYLER *********************** Costs: approx. £20 - £30 *********************** Main Features *********************** Hot Air Brush Not Gas powered No Temperature settings Electric styling brush without heat With no steam *********************** I have seen this product advertised several times on the television and though it looked quite good. The advert consisted of about ten woman apparently using the styler for the first time with miraculous results.
Whether they wanted their hair curly, straight, curled under or curled out, the JML Styler seemed to do it all.
Although it looked impressive I decided not to buy it, as i) I already had straightening irons ii) I knew my mum was getting me new straightening irons as part of my Christmas AND iii) It was quite expensive at £29.99.
Boy am I glad I waited!!! On Christmas day as well as recieving two other Hair Styling Tools, I received this little baby! I couldn't wait to try it out!!
***********************
I've actually just came of the phone now, from talking to my mum, and I happened to mention this review!! As it happens, my mum got a complete bargain with this item.
She bought it from MAKRO (a large cash n carry type store, mainly for buisiness and retailers), for only £6.99 plus VAT!!!!
So if after reading this, you feel like giving it a try, hunt down your local MAKRO!!
*********************** What you get... ***********************
The brush comes complete with it's own adapter, but also the choice to run it with batteries.
Included is a six page instruction manual, hardly comprehensive to say the least but never-the-less, it's there!
*********************** Appearance *********************** The appliance is silver and looks like a large sperhical brush with a bulky handle, where you can choose to put batteries inside.
The brush itself is soft with black fibres actually making up the brush head.
The cable on the given adaptor is of a fairly long length and unless your mirror is at the other side of the room, you should be all right.
*********************** How to Use *********************** As far as I understand it, to use you simply need to brush your hair with the brush curling it under, out or keeping it sraight. However upon trying to do this, it's not as easy as it sounds.
Firstly the brush spins in two directions, and working out which way you want, depending on how you are holding the brush can be confusing, to say the least!
My hair kept getting tangled in the brush, then when I did finally get the hang of it, my hair kept ending up curly but not straight, then wavy but still not straight!!
The instruction booklet provided wasn't much help either, as it was more for setting up the appliance, which was actually self explanatory.
Much more help on using the brush was needed, but if you can be bothered to fiddle around with it, once you get the knack it could be quite a good tool.
Saying that, I prefare my straightners any day!!
*********************** In Conclusion *********************** If you enjoy spending long periods of time fiddling around with your hair and getting it just right then this could be for you, especially at under a tenner!!
However, if like me you like to style and go, then I would stay away from this!!
Once again, the price is excellent but the appliance is just not up to the job!!
Reason for buying
-------------------------
I have to admit, I have no reason at all to buy this product. There is alot of marketing surrounding the JML grab mat though, so hats off to the marketing men for the high profile ad campaign.
