The JML stick up light bulb is a simple idea that does work well, it comes in two parts. There is a horseshoe shaped plate that has a large sticky pad attached to the back of it and that part acts as the holder for the light bulb.
The sticky pad is quite selective and you will find that it will only stick to what it wants to, so after trying it in many different positions only to find that is just `slid` off The Other Half ... more

We went in to buy a small step stool and came out with a stick up light bulb, so that wasn't bad was it ? The JML stick up light bulb is in fact a very good idea, that is not to say that there are some areas where there is still room for improvement. The Stick up bulb cost us £7.99 and we bought it to use in our garden shed, if we need to go down to the shed when it is darker then it is normally a two man job, one holds the torch while the other one sorts through the mountains of stuff that is stored in there for the screw that we are looking for !
The JML stick up light bulb is a simple idea that does work well, it comes in two parts. There is a horseshoe shaped plate that has a large sticky pad attached to the back of it and that part acts as the holder for the light bulb. The sticky pad is quite selective and you will find that it will only stick to what it wants to, so after trying it in many different positions only to find that is just `slid` off The Other Half managed to successfully screw the plate to the post inside of the shed. The bulb takes four AA batteries to power it, I am sure that they are the same batteries that you use in a Walkman and it can be switched on and off using a cord. Once the holder is securely attached to where you want it to be then you just slide the bulb into the holder, pull the cord and Voilą! There is light.
JML do say that the light bulb unit must never be used anywhere near water or where there will be steam or mist. They state that the toughened shatter-proof bulb will last you up to ten years, given that we have only recently installed our Stick up light bulb I can't comment on that. The whole beauty of the Stick up light bulb is that you can do it yourself, you don't need an electrician to come and wire it in for you. Neither the fitting or the bulb get hot and there are no dangerous electric wires to worry about if you have children.
The bulb gives sufficient light to enable you to see what you are doing, maybe somewhere in the region of what you would get from a lower wattage light bulb. Having the JML stick up bulb in the shed now means that we can easily see to find anything we might which is a great step forward. We are still running on the first four batteries but I am sure that it costs less than a couple of pounds to replace four AA's anyway.
The whole idea is a good one and it works well for us, the sticky backed pad that was supposed to hold the back panel in place needs further thought or maybe it would be better to state that the panel needs to be screwed into place. We have always had problems with sticky anything, we have stuck up countless hand towel hooks only to watch them flop onto the floor after a few days.
The JML Stick up light bulb could come in handy in many places and we have said that we are going to get another for the attic, that will save us getting the lead lamp out all of the time. JML, this is a gadget that is very useful.
Advantages: Light where needed without electricity Disadvantages: Uses Batteries
...been a great fan of JML nor, in fact, was I aware of just how many items they make. The StickUp Bulb is one such item, and I believe one of their newest as I first received information via their website newsletter. Since then however, it has been advertised to some extent on television.
At first I will admit that I didn't consider the item as I had seen this type of thing previously - that is, until I found a use for it, then suddenly it seemed ... ...At the back of our house we have a small conservatory without the benefit of electric lighting (although plans are afoot!) and trips to the back garden after dark (a necessity if you have animals) required a ready-to-hand torch.
The more I thought about this bulb the more I thought it might be the ideal (even if only temporary) solution. So, when passing Woolworths the other week, I decided to go in and see if they had it in stock or not yet. Sure ...

Advantages: add light any where Disadvantages: none
our closet in our bedroom is very dark and dingy looking, i store all of the junk we dont use very often in there but it is a pain when i need something and come to find it as there is no light in there so i have to use a torch, i saw this in woolworths for £9.99 last week and decided to give it a try, it comes in a cardboard box, inside you have a light fitment that looks like an ordinary house hold bulb and a piece to attach to the wall to clip ... ...simple you have the option of using the sticky pads or the choice of screwing it to the wall, not being a big fan of diy i decoded to use the sticky pad which has actually held a lot better than i expected it to.
The light is a lot brighter than i thought it would be and is comparable to a 60 watt bulb but does need 4 aa batteries to power it so i wouldnt like to use this as a light in a room that was used a lot but is great in my closet as it doesnt ...
