* Smoke Alarm alert, time to think! about Death! .

Advantages: These do save lives.
Disadvantages: £20 ish - Same as a night out? Hair-do? Exactly!

Someone's kids will die this Christmas, makes you think doesn't it? These ones by Aico, The company sounds Japanese, but actually they are from Shropshire. These alarms have all the advantages of a battery model, but are mains powered. These are also known as Hard wired smoke detectors. They are also fitted with a lithium battery as a back up, and this trickle charges from the mains, so you will never have to replace it. Disadvantages: You need a suitable light fitting in the right place.

Review of Fire Angel Plug-in Smoke Alarm

Well - do you have one? . .

Advantages: Self contained. Cheap, Very reliable.
Disadvantages: Battery can be removed in some models.

Firstly just let me say that as a thirty year Fireman, I have seen the result of people not having smoke alarms, and will have those memories forever. Until fairly recently, they were not readily available, but that is not the case now. If you go to any local superstore, you will find them for just a few pounds, and fitting is a doddle. They are small, flat to the ceiling, and white so they do blend in. Still trying to find an excuse? OK then, you will find that a great number of Fire Services now provide and fit them completely free of charge! All you have to do is ring them to find out. Ideally you should have one per floor, but if you only have one it should ...
