It is extremely solid and comes with a large, but well made remote control. Be warned though that if you lose this remote control you will be in trouble, the television itself has very few buttons and switches on it. The AV-28X4's sound quality is decent enough, but you can get better for the money. Unusually the speakers are below the screen, rather than each side, meaning the stero sound effect is not as noticeable as on some televisions. The sound is by no means bad, but if you want a home move experience, then you will need to attach some external speakers to this television. For watching normal television though, the sound is fine.

Be warned though that if you lose this remote control you will be in trouble, the television itself has very few buttons and switches on it. The stand the television comes with is basic at best, and like most stands, takes a lot of faffing about till you manage to put it together. If you live by yourself, you will need to ask a friend around to help as its impossible to assemble it by yourself.
When you switch the tv on for the first time, installation really is a piece of cake. I have never had a television which has set itself up by itself so easily as this one.
The AV-28X4 has a decent amount of features such as surround sound, different pictures sizes (widescreen, full screen, 16-9 zoon etc), but it misses out on some of the features a higher level television comes with. Most people should find enough options to keep them happy. Home cinema enthusiasts who demand more are unlikely to want to buy a 28 inch screen. It has three all important scart sockets as well as a headphone socket.
Looks wise the AV-28X4 is no stunner, but it looks modern, sleek and understated. It's looks certainly won't date as quick as some of its competitors.
Overall I am more than happy with this television, and it certainly meets most of my needs. For the price you can't really go wrong, and like most JVC products, it should have a long life, so no need to splash out extra on extended warranties.
