At first I was very pleased with this product as the design is very good, it does not take up much space in terms of height and the blue light and opening mechanism of the DVD tray is a pretty nice touch. However, I found this DVD recorder to be quite difficult to set-up and to receive all the channels available to you (especially in Auto set-up mode) and is complicated if you are also trying to connect satellite receivers to the system as well. However, this may apply to me more particularly as the recorder was not fully compatible with the satellite receiver I own. My first experience of this DVD recorder was not good, as the first recorder I got was faulty and needed replacing. Once I did install it and recorded my first few programmes, at playback the results were good. I was told that the DVD recorder would provide almost identically crystal clear playback as the original image, and upon watching the highest quality recordings possible it was certainly very good. However, problems start arising after fast forwarding through the programme at highest speed for a long time, which means at playback I found the picture to be of lower quality and very 'blocky' and blurry. Another drawback I noticed was that occassionally and very unpredictably there would be green lines over the recording at the bottom and top of the screen although at the time of recording they were not on the TV screen. Other than these two problems it is a nice DVD recorder in terms of looks, design and ease of use, particularly the ease in which you can set-up timer recordings of programmes using a very user friendly programme on the recorder with the video plus codes. Overall, although easy to use and looking good I do not consider it to be any better than any other DVD recorders I have used and due to problems I have experienced with recordings of my programmes I no longer use this recorder.

Quick review of JVC DRM10
In 2.5 years of use this products needs a at least yearly " software update"
I currently run the last version, and still the thing ends every recording session at its own choosen moment, resulting in " loading" on the screen.
JVC has stopped production, because there is a heavy construction flaw in it and they cannot solve it !
Never buy this; You will regreet it!!!

Reviews which might be of interest for "JVC DRM10"
Advantages: Excellent pictures, supports DVD-Ram, good with Sky Disadvantages: Does not write DVD+R/RW, no CD-Text. JVC's poor reputation.
tells you what is going on and has some graphics, albeit not as informative as they might be. The Philips machines for example, make it much more obvious when they are in record mode. I do say that JVC tried to make it attractive, but in my opinion they failed. It has some ungainly curves to the front, and a disjointed and confused layout. A bit like the last Ford Scorpio, it's got all the right ingredients but ends up looking like a frog. Compared to my Panasonic DVD-S75 player, it's just not beautiful. You may prefer the facelifted JVCDR-M10 which has exactly the same functionality.
The remote control is quite good, and can be set up to drive many TV sets and satellite receivers (like my Sony TV and Panasonic Sky box). Making mention of the word "Sony" in a JVC manual must have been painful, these two companies truly hate each ...
