Advantages: High quality recording on hard disk Disadvantages: Unreliable

Had to send it back twice for repair after the display flashed LOADING and the TV screen went blank. There's a combination of keys that's supposed to clear lock-outs but it didn't work. The other advice was to disconnect and reconnect the power, but that didn't work either.
Having recorded a lot of programmes on the hard disk, I have just started ... ...to FINALISE the disk so it can be read like a conventional DVD but, after starting this process I find the recorder crashes every time and switches off. As it has started finalising, but not completed it, you can't then retrieve the data on the disk. I've wasted many hours archiving recordings and had to scrap numerous blanks (all good quality disks) - very frustrating. Don't know what to do now: we can't save our recordings from the hard disk and ... more

There's a combination of keys that's supposed to clear lock-outs but it didn't work. The other advice was to disconnect and reconnect the power, but that didn't work either. Having recorded a lot of programmes on the hard disk, I have just started archiving them onto DVD disks. After copying them, you have to FINALISE the disk so it can be read like a conventional DVD but, after starting this process I find the recorder crashes every time and switches off. As it has started finalising, but not completed it, you can't then retrieve the data on the disk. I've wasted many hours archiving recordings and had to scrap numerous blanks (all good quality disks) - very frustrating. Don't know what to do now: we can't save our recordings from the hard disk and we're afraid it's (yet again) going to lock up completely.
