I already had the DRMV1 - same as the later MX1 but no HDD drive. Manuals are typically US/far east a different version of the English language with which I am not familiar. Eg altho at pp36/39 covers video recording mode - does not cover audio recording mode . Still this appalling quality of usermanual is true for most far east manuals I have. So I usually try workarounds. I soon found that the MV1 itself was useless it often failed at last stage of dubbing VHS to DVD leaving a useless DVD - anyway we are talking about the MX1 which I bought after the MV1 so I could copy a VHS tape to the MX1 HDD and then conveniently edit out unwanted bits before dubbing to DVD. I was advised at purchase that I may be better off buying a separate VHS player and DVD recorder and now I see it was good advice. I paid a lot extra for the VHS/DVD/HDD option and now they are ALLunavailable. Dubbing a complete VHS tape to HDD worked ok but trying to dub just part of a VHS tape was uncontrollable/unpredictable ie unreliable and often failed and I tried to avoid doing this.... Then dubbing from HDD to DVD - worked ok for about 100 discs - then started to play up. It would spontaneously shut down. Finally today I was deleting a few programmes on the HDD it crashed frequently and finally would not boot up. I now power on and it says LOADING and goes no further. I removed DVD drive makes no difference. Put DVD back and remove Diamond Maxtor HDD in case it was corrupted - still says LOADING. will not power up any more So an expensive failure just out of warranty. I will NEVER EVER buy JVC again both my MV1 and MX1 are a waste of money.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Good first review, although if you want to get the higher ratings you need to include some more information. Also leaving a blank line between each paragraph will make it easier for people to read. xx

Hi. A good first review, but it could do with a bit more info and into better paragraphs. I hope you enjoy the ciao experience, as I do.

Yes, good first review. Just a tip: try and make your review more readable by perhaps laying it out in paragraphs and just proof reading it quickly for grammar and punctuation. It's always easier on the reader's eye if everything's clear and easy to see! Nice one...! Jx
