I spose my expertise lies in old video games, as you can see by most of my reviews. I also enjoy music, I play guitar and bass, and hopefully soon drums, and music tastes range from The Beatles to Black Sabbath, but favourite band is U2.

Well, I've had quite a few brands of headphones over the years, I think this is my first set of JVC ones though. Oh the wasted years... OK, well there's no picture of these, so use your imagination. (or do a Google search.) These headphones are noise cancelling, which pretty much means you hear less of the outside world when you have them on, and the world hears less of your music, so everyone's happy! They have squishy bits, the same squishy stuff earplugs are made out of, like very fine sponge, where the earbuds would be, and the idea is, you squidge these down and stick them in your ears, (they don't go very far down, so don't worry) and they expand, thus creating a seal of sorts, and cancelling out noise.
Now the beauty of this noise cancelling business is you don't have to turn whatever it is you're listening to up very loud! Eg, I'd normally have to have my volume iPod about 3/4 of the up on the bus or in the car, now I rarely have it halfway. So that saves you power too. Being that the sound is now quieter (although obviously it doesn't sound that way in your ear) the bass increases, which may or may not be a good thing, depending on what you prefer. But its easily fixed if you have an EQ, if not, you get used to it anyway.
Overall appearance is quite good, white wires and jack plug, with a lime green ear pieces and squishy buds. (my favourite colour, and to be honest that was the only reason I bought them, but I'm so glad I did!) They come with 1 set of replacement buds too, although I'm still using the first set, its unlikely anyone will be selling further replacements, so that's not a good sign. Although the headphones may be worn out by the time you've used both earbud sets. Its near impossible to wear them without the buds, so you can see were this problem stems. They're pretty sturdy, the wires are nice and rubbery, only downside is the jack plug sticks up, so it tends to stick out of most portable devices. The earpieces themselves are nice and rounded, and set in the ear very well.
Overall, I'd definately buy these again. As a rough price guide, I bought mine for £14.99, although I think that was a reduced price. Worth the money though in my opinion. :)

Interesting I bought a cheap-ish pair of passively noise cancelling ones that were frankly useless and blew up after about 4 months anyway. Might give these a go. My commute (2hrs) is quite noisy in places so my poor old iPod is often at full volume which can't be doing my hearing any favours. What? eh?
