The JVC GR-D50 digital camcorder is a high quality MiniDV camcorder that takes advantage of facilities usually found on higher models.
Due to its stylish and convenient layout, recording in all situations is made easy for all!
The video quality is excellent, second to none. There is no delay with the voice and picture and there is no fuzziness of the picture. The only thing that is off poorer quality is the still pictures it takes. I have a separate digital camera that I use to take photos as the camcorders quality is poor compared to the images from the camera.
When in low light, the camcorder's performance is ok not good but I can live with it.
It has a very good quality screen on the camcorder so you can see what you've recorded, with sound and then have the ability of deleting it or keeping it.
If you compare GR-D50 with TRV-19 then I would say that GR-D50 is better because of 16X optical zoom and USB streaming as TRV-19 does not have that much zoom and USB streaming.
TRV-22 is of course better than GRD-50 in still and video quality but then JVC has GR-D70 as an answer to TRV-22.
The more money you invest the more output you get in electronics but do research before buying.
It has even won an award "What Camcorder magazine - Best Buy!" this is what me buy it!
It comes with all the accessories that you could possibly want! AC adapter AP-V11E, battery pack BN-V408U, audio/video cable, USB cable, lens cap, 2 core filters, cable adapter, CD-ROM, lithium battery CR2025 [for remote control], power cord, remote control, shoulder strap, 1 year manufacturer warranty.
Physical characteristics are:
Dimensions 69 x 94 x 143 mm Weight 525 grams -Not too heavy to carry around
I paid £350 for mine but now they are a lot cheaper to buy, especially online. the cheapest I have found it now is £289.00 from www.letsgodigital.co.uk
Advantages: Compact / feature rich / easy to use Disadvantages: zoom control can be a bit tricky to reach and the digital night vision is poor
...Main reason for choosing the JVC GR-D50 and not it's little brother the D20 is the DV in feature. If you want to be able to convert your VHS tapes into digital and not have to risk sending off your tapes to have this done by professionals which will set you back the price difference between the D20 & D50 then this is the camcorder for you. Converting old VHS onto DV tape is a breeze. Then hooking up the D50 to your PC with a firewire card and transferring ... ...just as simple. The D70 may add the camera snap shot feature with multi media card, but at only 1024x768 resolution this feature isn't that great, if you want snapshots you can still take stills from the footage you take on the PC. Overall the D50 is the one to go for as it has the features you most want and will get use out of.
At around £320 at the time of writing it's a great all rounder, you even get a remote with all the usual features that ...
