...I have recently bought a JVC compact VHS digital camcorder, model number GR-AX201. I bought this particular item as I am well into computers and wanted to try messing around with the various digital features. My wife also want a digital camera. This camcorder can take still snapshots, comes with many editing features for the experienced user and is so easy to use for the less experienced. It comes with an excellant picture stabalizer, very quick auto focus and an integrated auto light for use when the natural light is too dim. It has many other features which I could give however the one I like is the way I can just remove the film, place it into the cassette adapter ( basically a video tape ), and then watch it immediately like a video. Advantages: When it was lauched probably the best one-chip camcorder available
Disadvantages: colours distorted on low light - disturbing violet hue

...I had the JVC 3000 for two years, but though it was a superb camera the colours were not very bright and had a violet hue at low light. The night shot facility was simply useless. In addition the camera was quite heavy; the menu structure was complicated and there were too many buttons. When I changed to a second-hand Sony DCR-TRV60 it was simply a revelation: Superb images, reasonable photo quality, excellent accessories, much smaller and lighter. Unfortunately Sony changed to the 80 and 95 models with bluetooth (for the US market?), heavier, more expensive and bulky screens. The 60 (70 in the US) was just ideal. The introductory price of the JVC camera was far too high; the advantage of the "bright" f 1.2 lens was just a gimmick because all depends on chip sensitivity and not on the aperture as in a photocamera....
