Price: around £350-400

This doubles up as a digital camcorder, and a digital camera in one. It includes an 8Mb SD MultiMediaCard, meaning that immediate purchase of an extra memory card is not necessary.

The camera has 2 recording modes: Automatic and Manual. In automatic mode the camera trys to focus on the principal object in view and automatically adjusts the white balance and brightness to obtain the clearest image possible. in manual mode the user is able to select the focus range, therefore allowing close up shots. The camera also has the function of an image intensifier allowing for use in low light conditions

Viewing of the recorded videos/images is easily done by selecting the media on which they were recorded. Still Images can be viewed on an indexed page (about 9 thumnails per page) or individually. The videos are played back and can be fastforwarded or reversed, and are played with sound.

Main Features:
--------------------

Media Formats Accepted -
The camera accepts Mini DV casettes to record videos and SD MultiMedia Cards for still images.

Size and Weight -
At just over a half kilo, and measuring approx 8 x9 x17cm (WxHxD) the camera is very lightweight, anallowing it to be transported and used easily

Zoom -
The camera has a 10x optical zoom, with digital zoom increasing this to 500x, although image quality decreases with digital zoom.

Editing -
The camera comes with all the necessary cables needed to view the recordings (3 phono/ scart adaptor, or optional SVIDEO - not included) or the digital stills taken (USB + Software). Editing cables are included

My only real moan is the battery: The standard battery requires around 1hr 30mins of charging and will last just under and hour when running, so if used for long periods of time it is recommended to buy a larger capacity battery, providing a maximum recording time of around 7 hours. Alternatively it is possible to power the camera from the mains using the provided adaptor.
