JVC KS BTA100 Bluetooth add on unit.

INFO :
RRP : 65-80 UK pounds, can be found cheaper online.
a customer had one supplied last week from Mobile radio fitter.co.uk for only £49.99
The JVC KS BTA100 is a neat bit of kit. The device has three wires,
Brown (Radio mute wire)
Black (Ground)
Blue/White stripe (12 volts switch power)
And one 3.5mm jack plug. (audio input)

Out of 10, 10 being good or easy / 1 being bad or hard.

FITTING : simply 8/10
Very simple fit as long as you can access the rear of the radio unit,
This device was created to add Bluetooth to a selection of JVC’s 2011 line up of in dash radio receivers. (please check if your radio supports this).
JVC have added an aux input on the rear of a selection of their car radio’s in 2011.
The 3.5mm plug is designed to go into the rear socket.

Now because of the three wire connection and one 3.5mm jack, I’ve done a test on this unit, and it will work via any radio unit that has a 3.5mm jack. I have tried it on a Sony, Kenwood, Alpine and an early JVC (3 years old). The only down side is generally most radio units have the 3.5mm socket in the front panel. So the 3.5mm jack plug would have to go into the front panel. Meaning you will notice it, but with a little imagination I’m sure it could be done tidy. If in doubt simply call a mobile radio fitter.

DESIGN : 10/10
The JVC KS BTA100 is very neat. And small. Measuring just 52 X 26 X 15.5 mm.
Finished in a nice satin black. The buttons illuminate for ease of use. One big green phone answer / end button. And a selection of smaller illuminated blue buttons for audio playback. Forward, back, play, pause.
The microphone for phone use is located in the front of unit. Providing very clear audio indeed.
The unit is so small. And the cables are quite long, one meter. Meaning fitting into most locations is possible. If you extended the wires, and use a 3.5mm extension piece, It could go on a roof liner, near an interior mirror. Pretty much anywhere.

USE : 10.10
Very easy, This small unit is so simple to use, If your phone rings, The radio mutes, and the call is heard through the cars front speakers. Connect it up to a music device via Bluetooth and again the radio unit is muted and the sound comes through all the speakers. It is very clear. Simple press the forward or back buttons to skip through tracks. When I fitted the first one of these up I was impressed that the voice dial function on my Nokia phone worked. But I did have to do this while holding my phone. (not advisable if driving).

OVERALL :
I give this a strong score, 10/10. its true. Ok it doesn’t provide loads of information via a fancy screen, but what it does, it does very well. And yes I would gladly use this device daily in my car.
