Advantages: Unsure Disadvantages: Hard to get through application
...This company is persistantly sending my husband and I letters claiming that even with a poor credit rating we will be accepted for this card and that the card will boost our redit rating considerably.
After about 6 letters we decided to apply. Now my husband and I have immaculate credit ratings and have never had problems in the past getting credit facilities.......
Except with capital one!
Unfortunately we were turned down for this card 'because of a low credit score'!!!!
We decided to approach our local bank, renowned for its strict credit control who immediately approved us for a credit card with a £10,000 limit.
Capital one refused us for a £500 credit limit.
Fantastic interest rates etc, etc, etc if you can manage to actually get one!!!...

Advantages: Good for rebuilding your credit rating Disadvantages: High charges and interest rate
...You hear all this bad press about Capital One, but it provides a very good service.
If you apply for the Capital One card it should be for only one reason, and that is to rebuild your credit.
Capital One is probably the only major bank that actively encourages people with bad credit to apply. They offer you a low credit limit, and charge you high interest. They provide a good service, and they charge high for it, but so do a lot of companies.
To start of with if you have a bad credit rating they will offer you a Classic Card with a low limit (£250 normally), and a higher than average interest rate, however, pay of your bills by the due date, and you will find that in a matter of months, your credit has been built up to a decent level, meaning you can get loans and credit from other sources. They charge an annual fee for the card...

Advantages: Interst free credit so long as bills are paid on time, Reliable, Provide credit to nearly anyone Disadvantages: High interest rate, £18 start up fee
...For those of us who have a poor credit rating for whatever reason, Capital One offers a Premium Card with a low credit limit. The annual fee of £18 in my opinion is a bit steep but they offer interest free credit so long as you pay your monthly bill on time. Failure to pay your bill results in a high interest rate being applied to your account. My credit limit was £400 when I joined last year and so far I have had no problems with them whatsoever. At intervals throughout the year they offer special prices on various goods and holidays. At Christmas I managed to get a Nokia 3210 on BT Cellnet pay as you go for £49.99 when in the shops they were selling at £70. All in all I would recommend Capital One for people who would have no problem settling their monthly bill....
