WHAT IS JACK WILLS
Jack Wills was the founder of the chain of shops. His first shop was in Salcombe in Devon and there is a shop still there. They sell men's and women's clothes. They also often sponsor sporting events, especially polo.
THE STORES
There are around Jack Wills stores around the UK. There are a few in London, the original one in Salcombe and then others. My nearest one is Bath. There are two in Scotland but none in Wales or Northern Ireland. (Well I suppose that's one reason for me leaving Wales to live on the other side of the Channel!). The shops themselves are very well laid out. I will relate this to the Bath shop but from what I've seen they're all laid out in a similar way. The clothes are either on hangers on the wall, on shelves folded or on tables folded. The shop can be a bit dark which is a bit annoying. There are changing rooms at the back of the shop. There is also an outlet store in Gunwharf in Portsmouth which is my favourite as it means lots of bargains! I quite like the fact that they don't have many stores as it makes the brand feel a bit more exclusive!
THE STAFF
I have found the staff in Jack Wills to be generally very friendly. At my local shop there is always someone standing by the door who greets you as you walk into the shop. There is usually someone who comes up to you once in the shop to ask if you want any help - this really annoys me! I know some people probably like this personal touch but it always makes me feel claustrophobic when shop assistants approach me! However, it is good to know that they are there to help find sizes if you need it.
The staff are usually quite young and dressed in the Jack Wills clothes. I always find that they are slim and good looking (obviously I go in hoping that the clothes will have this effect on me as well!).
MY EXPERIENCE
Since discovering Jack Wills I have fallen in love with their clothes. I would describe the general look of Jack Wills as 'surfy'. They sell jeans, hoodies, polo-shirts, vest tops, jogging bottoms, jumpers, shorts, coats and underwear for women and a similar range for men. They also sell accessories like belts, hats and bags. Jack Wills don't make children's clothes.
My purchases from Jack Wills include a turquoise and beige horizontal striped cashmere jumper and a pink shirt with stripes. I got both of these in the January sale. The jumper was reduced from £69 to £39 and the shirt was reduced from £59 to £39. Other things that I have bought from Jack Wills include a pink polo shirt, a white vest top, a pair of flip flops and a pale pink sarong with Hawaiian flowers on it.
The prices at Jack Wills are not cheap. A pair of jeans will set you back around £90 and a belt is around £40. The hoodies are around __. I always try to make sure that I shop there during the sales as everything in the shop seems to go into the sale. When I went in the January sales they still had most sizes in the remaining clothes. I also try to go to the outlet shop in Portsmouth and would highly recommend a visit here if you live in that area. The clothes in there are much cheaper than the regular shops, I just wish they'd open one a bit closer to me!
Apart from the look of Jack Wills' clothes, which I really love, I also really like the quality and materials. The quality really does make them worth the extra pennies (ok…..pounds!). The white vest top I have I wear a lot and it is still in great condition. I have bought similar clothes from high street shops and they often fall apart. I really hate wearing polyester and refuse to buy anything made from it - I find it very sweaty. It is therefore really important that I can find shops that use other materials like cotton and Jack Wills is one of these shops.
As I said their clothes have quite a surfy look to them but even if you don't like this look I would have a look around the shop. I think that my jumper and shirt are quite smart and I wear them to work or for an evening in the pub.
The one problem with Jack Wills is that they only make sizes 8-14, so they don't really cater for everyone.
You can also buy Jack Wills clothes on their website (www.jackwills.com), which is really useful as they don't have a huge amount of stores. They have a well set out website which shows you all the clothes, the sizes and what the clothes will go with. If you order from the site then delivery is free which is an added bonus. I haven't actually ordered from it as I have a store quite close but I really enjoy browsing it and would definitely order from it if my local shop was out of the item I really wanted.
CONCLUSION
I really love this shop and just wish that I earned enough so that I could buy more clothes there! Their clothes are more than I would normally pay but I really think that the quality is worth the extra money. The clothes are well made, from nice materials and are long-lasting. I love the style and fit of their clothes. If you have a store near you then pop in and have a look.
Advantages: Great Quality, Up-market, well known brand, lots to choose from Disadvantages: Price!
...*In A Nutshell* Jack Wills is a popular upmarket high street/designer retailer store, and sells casual clothes for both men and women. It also sells a small range of homeware including duvets and pillowcases, cushions, mugs, bathroom cosmetics and towels. There are stores nationwide. The target audience is for people in their teens to about their mid 20's, although I have seen many other people on either side of that age bracket wearing their clothes! ... ...variation on the 'theme' of Jack Wills' signature styles. New collections are brought out regularly, too. Inside the shops it has a very 'cool' vibe and atmosphere, you feel relaxed and most of the staff are happy to help. The garments are timeless and a great statement piece, they will last you forever. *The Bad* Well, I suppose you've all been waiting for me to mention this - the cost! Jack Wills is high in price, and that can put off its target ...

Advantages: Great quality, simple, yet gorgeous designs. Disadvantages: May be expensive for some people.
I first discovered Jack Wills a couple of years back and became instantly drawn to it and still am! I attended an eye appointment with my husband, a routine review, in the Trafford Centre.
We were attended by very helpful staff and he was put through numerous tests, upon noting that his eyes had high pressure, more tests were carried out.
The optician, Elaine Jack, was lovely and put him at ease (he has had bad experiences in the past) and was extremely thorough. She expressed some concerns and brought in another colleague to consult.
They ended up deciding that to be safe they would refer him immediately to the Manchester Royal Infirmary Eye Casualty, and after more tests made an appointment for the same afternoon.
We went to the hospital and he was diagnosed with early onset of Glaucoma (rare at only 31), they say as so early can be controlled.
Thanks to OE and especially Ms. Jack my husband will be able to watch his son ...
