The lost Bond book
Review of Colonel Sun - Kingsley Amis by  brownp1

Advantages: A missing bond book - catch it
Disadvantages: more gritty realsim than film glamour

...In 1970 after the bond series had ended with the death of Ian Fleming and before John Gardiner restarted the series there was a single Bond book written, with the agreement of Ian Fleming's estate, by Kingsley Amis under the pen name of Robert Markham -this book being Colonel Sun. The action follow's on from the last of Fleming's books - the man with the Golden Gun with Bond recovering from that adventure. This time the chinese are the villians with an attempt to destroy Russian influence in the Mediterrean. The Chinese are assisted by an ex-Nazi in a plan to mortor bomb a russian conference leaving a dead M and bond in location to blame it on the British. The plot follows the capture of M by the Chinese, who is taken to the Greek Islands followed closely in pursuit by Bond. Once in Greece Bond teams up with the GRU (russian military... Read review

Brilliant
Review of Chances - Jackie Collins by  HellyBelly

Advantages: Good read
Disadvantages: -

...To me Jackie Collins is one of the best writers around, her books do not appeal to everyone as they are a bit raunchy and steamy, but they are so easy to follow, the first few chapters are the hardest to get into because that is when all the characters are being introduced, but after you have sussed out who is who the books are brilliant. Chances is one of Collins first novels, after The Bitch and The Stud. It is the first book that has sequels, all the other books it does not matter what order you read them in but you have to read Chances first followed by Lucky, Lady Boss and then Lucky's revenge, these are the four books in the series. Lucky Santangelo is the star of the book and in the first book you hear more about her father and his gang land antics and then you follow Lucky into her life as a gangsters daughter, it is really hard... Lucky- Another Good Read By Jackie Collins
Review of Lucky Star - Jackie Collins by  Goku-SSJ3

Advantages: Another Good Santangelo Series
Disadvantages: Too good to ever put down

...Lucky is back in the sequel/prequel to Chances. In Lucky we find out more about Gino Santangelo’s past as well as his present. It gives you an insight into what his life is like and all the things he has suffered or dealt with. We find out more about Lucky’s childhood too and her mother who was killed when Lucky was very young. You also find out how the Santangelo’s got the reputation of being a crime family. This story is set in the 1920's when you read about Gino Santangelo and then it jumps from present to past between characters. Lucky runs the Magiriano hotel in Vegas, has a child and gets married with a very rich Greek man, who just happens to be the father of her ex best friend and that is just for starters. Jackie Collins writes in a way that will keep you reading as her story lines keep you interested... Read review
