Twiglets
Ok, so these things are nothing new, in fact they I have been nibbling on twiglets since I was knee high to a grass hopper, but its time they got more recognition, these things have been about for ages, they are a great snack, crunchy, full flavoured, reasonably priced and come bags you can actually fit your hand into and yet they are still shoved out of sight in super markets, always left to be eaten last at parties when all other nibbley bits are gone, they are not known to my spell check and there were only a few reviews written about then when they were loads of reviews about crisp's (a word my spell check does know)
History Before writing this I looked on the internet to get some information, like when they first appeared, who thought of them, who eats them? And do you know what I found? Nothing. These things just came from nowhere, maybe they fell from out of space and landed on the shelves at Asda, There is no other explanation any where. I'm not kidding ive looked and found nothing at all, ive read all the info on the packet and there is no indication of where the first twiglets came from. I can tell you they are made by The Jacob's Bakery Ltd the address is P.O. Box 14 Liverpool l97JK UK an they are imported by Menorah Foods pty ltd 1695 centre road Springvale Victoria 3171 Australia. And there is a customer care line 08081449454 (I am actually considering ringing this number and asking but think that might be a bit sad) Any way it doesn't matter where they come from the fact is they are here, and I love them.
Packaging They come in a black bag with the red Twiglets logo on the front surrounded by a blue ring that will tell you the flavour (they come in curry, original and wouster sauce). The message on the front boats "a whole lot of crunch in a whole wheat much" as if that's not enough they also boast to be Bake not fried, only 97 cals per 25g, 3.1g fat per 25g and they are high in fibre (yes eat a full 150g bag of these an you will be on the toilet for two days) On the back of the packet is this message "Totally original entertain your senses! Only twiglets give you that distinctive knobbly shape combined with a zingy taste and crunchy bite for all round sensual satisfaction" (Crikey almost sounds better then a night in with Johnny Depp!)
Taste The taste is… different….tangy…. indescribable! I really don't now how to describe them. People say they taste like marmite but I hate marmite an I love twiglets, as I sit here licking the brown crumbs from my fingers an feeling the flavour hit my tongue causing my saliva glands to explode, I still cant put the taste to words. They are zingy I guess. All I can say is try one and see what you think.
Look Ok they are no the most attractive of snacks, they are not round like crisps, or cylinder like wotsits or colourful or pretty in any way, in fact it is fair to say they look like E.T'S Fingers. remember that scene when he points an say's "E.T phone home" picture that finger he is pointing with… can you picture it?… well that's what a twiglet looks like.

I have told you everything I know about this wired and wonderful snack, now I ask you to do one this. Next time your wondering down the snack isles at your local super market, put down the Pringles and the nic nacs pick up the twiglets, give them out to friends who pop round, take a bag to work and leave them open in he canteen, let the children have a few in their packed lunches. Remind the world how wonderful twiglets are and get more people buying them, lets get twiglets pulled from the back shelve and sitting proud alng side the walkers crisp's!!!
Twiglet's we salute you.By the way if any one really does have any info about where they came from please let me no, I am starting to think my falling from the sky theory could be right.
Advantages: Taste of curry, unlike ordinary twiglets Disadvantages: I've eaten a whole tub
She sat at her desk. The glow of the computer screen seemed to tut at her. Feelings of guilt flooded through her as she began to type. ‘If I could just make them understand why I did it’ she thought to herself, ‘then everything would be ok’. Sadly she looked at the empty tub in front of her, its yellow and black swirls taunting her. ‘Stop it, stop it, I confess!’. She glared at the pictures of the contents. A reminder of what she had done wrong.
... ...she would cook for her dinner. The scent of a fresh cheese and onion loaf wafted from the kitchen as she tried to decide what to eat. It was just one of those times when she was feeling a little peckish. Just a little something to pass the time until dinner. Little did she know she’d be caught up in a crazed eating binge of little party food wonders. She had simply fancied a twiglet. There had been an open tub in the kitchen only yesterday, left ...

Advantages: better than the original Disadvantages: see review
If you’re like me, you’ll loathe Twiglet’s! Loathing them simply because the taste is so foul! So after HEARING many rave reviews from friends and family, about the new tasty curry Twiglet’s, I thought why not? And at least I’ll get an opinion out of it!
Luckily for me, it was my son’s eighteenth birthday for which he wanted a party. Over the weeks, we piled up the freezer with sausage rolls, cheese and onion ... ...of alcohol we accumulated since his decision to have a party was made.
Unluckily for him, a few days before he’s birthday he had an accident, and ended up breaking his hip. Which meant we had to postpone the party for a few months, after all the hospital wouldn’t have gone a bundle on a ward full of drunken teenagers/adults strutting their stuff.
So in the name of research I decided to open the Twiglet’s. Beside they would have ...

Advantages: Extremely moreish Disadvantages: You won't be able to stop!
To someone who had never been exposed to the wonder that is Marmite, its appeal may appear somewhat limited. A brown gooey mess made from yeast extract. Those oh-so astute marketing strategists clearly hit the nail on the head when they exclaimed "you either love it or you hate it". The concept of Twiglets would probably induce the same confused wondering amongst outsiders as to its appeal. But if anyone has ever tasted one, and falls into the "love" ... ...Just as America gave us Pringles (once you pop you can't stop!) the UK has given us Twiglets (one nibble and you're nobbled!). Once you've opened a bag, or in my prefered container, a 200 gram tube, you simply cannot stop until they're all gone!
Twiglets are a wholewheat snack, a bit like a small, brown breadstick, coated in Marmite, to produce a wonderfully flavoursome and surprisingly low fat snack. While Pringles are unbelievably calorific, Twiglets ...

Advantages: Spicy and lovely Disadvantages: once you open you cannot replace the lid!
months shelf life on them, funny eh, they will be lucky to last 6 hours in our house!
Would I recommend them?
Yes it is Christmas time and whilst not been very diet friendly, who cares, no diet now for two weeks and then back on it. PS I love these and eat these all year round but only seem to find the tubs around Christmas Time.
Of course you can buy cheaper brands but this is certainly one product that you pay for what you get.
