If you’re like me, you’ll loathe Twiglet’s! Loathing them simply because the taste is so foul! So after HEARING many rave reviews from friends and family, about the new tasty curry Twiglet’s, I thought why not? And at least I’ll get an opinion out of it!

Luckily for me, it was my son’s eighteenth birthday for which he wanted a party. Over the weeks, we piled up the freezer with sausage rolls, cheese and onion rolls, pizza fingers, etc. Not to mention the extremely mountain of alcohol we accumulated since his decision to have a party was made.

Unluckily for him, a few days before he’s birthday he had an accident, and ended up breaking his hip. Which meant we had to postpone the party for a few months, after all the hospital wouldn’t have gone a bundle on a ward full of drunken teenagers/adults strutting their stuff.

So in the name of research I decided to open the Twiglet’s. Beside they would have been out of date at the end of April. So I ripped the lid off the tin, then the inner seal came off. Soon I had a ‘twig’ shaped stick in my hand, moving up to my nasal cavity I took a whiff! Wow, they certainly smelt okay: But what about taste? I gingerly placed what seemed like a stick of wood to mouth, and took a nibble. I was pleasantly surprised.

You see until now we have only had Twiglet’s with that horrid marmite flavour, you know the one that makes you go ‘YUCK’ when you place it in your mouth and take a bite/suck! But no more: Oh no, I can tell you that we are now ‘blessed’ with CURRY FLAVOUR Twiglet’s! Don’t get me wrong I like marmite, yes like –not love or hate but like! I just really dislike the taste of normal Twiglet’s.

I expect we’ve had curry flavour other things haven’t we? Curry Pringles curry wedges and curry cornflakes (well okay ignore the last one)

Jacob’s who are in turn owned by Danone make the Twiglet snacks. Jacob’s can be contacted at:

The flavour of the Twiglet’s is actually quite authentic and enjoyable. It is spicy, but not too spicy to reduce the enjoyment. If you enjoy curry flavour snacks then you will enjoy this snack. You may be pleased to know that although the Twiglet’s do indeed have yeast extract in them, the flavour of this is not apparent in the little sticks of curry.

Now for the nutritional values:

Energy – 468kcals
Protein – 8.0g
Carbohydrates – 55.7g
(Of which sugars are) 4.8g
Fat – 21.5g
(Of which saturates are) 13.6g
Fibre-6.0g
Sodium – 1.9g

Some ingredients include: WHOLEMEAL, VEGETABLE AND HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL, FLAVOURINGS

Additionally to these ingredients the products also contains Yeast extract (marmite). However, you truly cannot taste this through the rich curry flavour.

You know when you get some snacks, such as crisps, and you taste them not knowing what flavour they are supposed to be. With this product there is absolutely no doubt to the flavour.

I like a mild curry, anything stronger gets left, so usually I opt for either the chicken tonight curry, or have been known to indulge in the Vesta curry’s, but no stronger. My taste buds are like my body – weak!

If you like curry Pringles, then you’ll like these. There is absolutely no tastes of the old ‘marmite’ flavour here, just the decent taste of tasty curry! And all without having to do any cooking!

However, due to the somewhat unhealthy nutrition, (okay so the protein and fibre MIGHT be good for you), I would recommend you save these for a treat or party.

My son? Well he is home and making a good recovery, though has to keep off his leg for a further four weeks. And we have decided to have a barbeque in the better weather to celebrate his birthday. That’s providing of course – we actually have some good weather!

Thanks for reading - Dave

Hey I've not seen these, will have to look out for them. I am a hater of marmite but strangely enough quite happy to munch on a twiglet or two, the curry flavour sounds much nicer though.
