Advantages Nice strong flavour, attractive packaging, less fat than other options
I have seen these advertised on TV for the last few weeks and as I am a great lover of cheese I thought to myself I must get some. Therefore when I saw that Tesco were selling them for £1 on Friday I picked up a sharing bag. You can also buy them in a multipack of smaller bags. They are also available in smoky bacon flavour.
The snack is made by Jacobs and the packaging is easy to spot on the shelf, it has a 'moon' theme and shows some of the shapes that the bag contains eg. Rockets, cameras, people.
Opening the bag there is an aroma of cheese. The biscuits are like cheese savouries but look a bit bigger and they are a bit lighter as the biscuit is not quite so solid in the middle, instead there tends to be thinner layers.
When I first tasted these I wasn't completely sure if I liked the taste. The cheese flavour is quite strong and as I am used to cheese savouries or mini cheddars this came as a bit of a shock. However, once I'd had a couple of these I got used to the change in flavour and began to really enjoy them. They have a nice strong flavour and they are lovely and light whilst still crunchy. They melt in the mouth and they are certainly very addictive.
I was surprised when I looked at the nutritional content because I was expecting the fat content to be higher. The bag I have is 125g and it is recommended that it contains 5 servings. Each serving contains 114 calories, 2.4g sugars, 3.8g fat, 0.5g saturates and 0.4g salt. I think this is quite good for a snack like this as some packets of crisps have 3x as much fat in.
I really love these and definitely will buy them again.
