I love snack food and probably eat a lot more of it than I should, I also love marmite, you know what they say, you either love it or you hate it and I LOVE it! So when I saw Jacob's Twiglets for sale in Tesco at £1.08 for 150g I just had to buy a bag. They can also be bought in a bag of 6 smaller packets which are about 25g each but I like to buy the big bag so that I can share them with my husband, he loves marmite too.
The 150g foil bag that they come in is mainly black with a yellow bit across the top which says "Great For Sharing" which they are and a blue oval in the middle which says "A whole lot of CRUNCH in a WHOLEWHEAT MUNCH!" and has a red oval inside it. In the red area are the words Twiglets Baked so you know that these are going to be healthier for you than normal crisps as they have been baked. Dotted around the bag are some pictures of various Twiglets and the Jacobs logo. On the back of the packet are the ingredients and the nutritional information.
I include the ingredients for those people who suffer from food allergies as I think that it is helpful for them to know what is in the product so that they know whether or not they can eat it. So the ingredients are:
As you can see there is not a lot of ingredients in these so you don't need to be worried about them being full of nasty chemicals. Unfortunately though these are not good for allergy sufferers as they contain milk, gluten and celery plus they are made on a line handling egg and in a factory handling sesame seeds so beware if you have an allergy to any of those things. They are however suitable for vegetarians.
As you may have guessed Twiglets are a Marmite flavoured snack, yum. It basically resembles a twig which is why they are called Twiglets. It is then covered in a dark brown mixture which is the yeast extract or Marmite. They might not be the most attractive looking snack in the world but if you love Marmite then you'll love these. On the other hand if your one of the people who hates it then you avoid these as they are just like Marmite, you either love them or you hate them. Upon opening the bag you can immediately smell the delicious Marmite They taste as good as they smell and have a very strong Marmite flavour which is wonderful. The taste is very strong but it isn't too overbearing and anyway if you're a Marmite lover then you'll be fine with the taste. It is a proper Marmite taste which is made because they use Yeast Extract unlike some other companies they have really managed to capture the taste very well. It is quite a salty taste and that's reflected in the nutritional values so beware but apart from that you can mainly just taste the marmite, yum! They also have a wonderful crunch to them which is the best part of crisps.
A 25g serving contains: Calories: 97kcal, 5% of your GDA Sugar: 0.5g, 1% of your GDA Fat: 3.1g, 4% of your GDA Saturates: 1.4g, 7% of your GDA Salt: 0.5g, 8% of your GDA
As you can see they are not as unhealthy fat wise as most other crisps, this is because they are baked not fried and therefore you can feel a little less guilty about eating these than you would with crisps. Plus they contain a lot of fibre, in each 25g serving there are 3.0g of fibre so that's another health benefit. They are also suitable for vegetarians.
Overall I think that these are a great snack and have a fabulous taste to them which is a real treat for any Marmite lover. I really do recommend these except to people who don't like Marmite. 10 out of 10.

I'm not sure if you've ever watched Mr Bean or even heard of it (if not - where you been! lol). Anyway, there's an episode where he's holding a birthday 'party' for himself (only 2 people who don't want to be there) and he runs out of these twiglets when putting them out on plates so he opens the window, snaps of a twig from a tree, dips it in marmite and puts it on the plate. lol. What a ledge. Now, when ever I eat these, I feel like im eating marmite covered twigs. lol
Advantages: Low in calories and fat (for a snack anyway!), very tasty, each bite is unique. Disadvantages: Some of them are over flavoured and some are under flavoured.
