Car Reviews of Jaguar »

Just got one, Initial review.

Advantages: Does what it says on the can.
Disadvantages: Has me permenantly smiling.

...seem to want to use Jaguar sites to publicise other makes of car. Some of them, cars I would not touch with a barge pole. My car goes like stink. I am 6ft 2in and find the car comfortable. It has full leather, has a great sound system, is beautifully quiet, drives really well and does everything I want it to do in spades. I have been driving for thirty five years. Mercs, Rovers, Fords, VWs, Landrovers etc. I have driven many cars well past 100,000 ...
...revived my driving passion. It makes me smile. I even enjoy going to work now. My daily journey is a 36 mile round trip along the A47, usually in mild traffic, and can include heavy stop go town traffic for some 6 miles, and a smidge of dual carriageway. I am getting 41 mpg. The car seems to relish the chance to overtake and we don't hang around. Perhaps, as with most products, there are some bad examples, but mine is brilliant. And yes, I realise ...

Jaguar - Ford, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE????

Advantages: Nice Boot Size. Good Looks.
Disadvantages: Build Quality, Ride Quality, Comfort

...brings my nicely onto the Jaguar S-Type. I have test driven TWO S-Types now. The Standard S-Type S and the S-Type SE which has all the goodies. Both 2001 (same age as my 607) I'm shocked quite frankly. The Bog standard S-Type S The first one I drove was an utter dissapointment, I thought stepping into a Jag would be like stepping into a whole other league. Boy was I wrong. It felt like I had actually stepped into something worth nothing. The ...
...torquey (which it probabley wouldn't) as my 607 and didn't push you into your seat like my 607 does. didn't feel like the correct progression to me! The gearbox however worked flawlessly. The inside of the car, was also abismal. Sorry, but it was, no leather, cramped and no toys!! I feel sorry for the people who bought these new! Now onto my better part of the review, of the second one I test drove. The S-Type SE. This one has leather, so immediately ...

Jaguar 2.5 SE 4WD

Advantages: luxury, smmothness, stunning looks, power, comfort, space, driving pleasure
Disadvantages: small glove box, low mpg on urban cycle.

...can I say about the Jaguar 2.5 SE 4WD X-Type that doesn't involve choking on my own superlatives ? It is magnificent - that is the only word for it. I was a sales rep for 30 yrs and have driven all sorts of vehicles but the Jag beats them all. It's hard to believe it's essentially a Mondeo in a party frock but as I had a Mondeo and found it to be a quality, well made, reliable car - 105000miles in 2 yrs, not ONE problem - maybe it's no bad thing ...
...mid-sized superlative limo. It's a shame the oil crisis has killed the demand for cars like this. My wife and I don't drive a lot nowadays - we are both term time workers and don't travel much - so we can stand the 25mpg average fuel consumption. Town driving sees as little as 17mpg but motorway work sees as much as 39mpg. The X-Type is only available as a diesel now which is a shame. The 2.5 V6 is quiet, smooth, powerful and purrs when you go ...

DAVE MURRAY

Advantages: Good Fuel economy, light weigt body, stylish looks
Disadvantages: Easy to get bumped on the doors in the super market car park.

Great practical car, the 2.7 litre diesel model can give great fuel economy ,up to 46 miles per gallon if driven modestly. The car is well equipped and comforable and turns many a head if bought in black with 20" alloys. The new updated styling with its distinctive gills differ it from earlier models. On the down side there is no body impact strips along the cars length to prevent bumps form fellow shoppers at the super market., we always park ...
...(well away from other shoppers). Also maddening is having to keep the ignition key in and turned to one to use the car entetainment centre when the engine is off. Any how its a great car lets hope I dont get hit too much with depreciation when its time sell ...

Big beautiful cat

Advantages: Very inexpensive to buy
Disadvantages: Potentially very expensive to run

...XKR and servicing at a Jaguar main dealer is expensive, although obviously less expensive if you use a independent specialist. My servicing costs have averaged £410 per 10,000 miles using an independent specialist, but I may have been lucky. Always budget for a possible very large bill. Fuel consumption however is perhaps not as bad as it could be at about 20 to 24 mpg which is better than some comparable cars, such as Maserati coupes, Astons etc. ...
