Advantages Good looking
Disadvantages A lot of noise when you're driving on the motorway
I drove the Jaguar X-TYPE Estate 3.0 litre V6 - the most powerful engine in the X-range, with a maximum output of 231bhp (172kW) at 6,800 rpm, and a torque peak of 284Nm (209lb ft) at 3,000 rpm. It is also the quickest car in the X-range reaching 0 - 62 mph in 6.9 seconds - continuing to a terminal speed of 144mph.All petrol X-Type's offer a choice of five-speed manual or five-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmissions.It looks very good,and drives very good,but there is a lot of noise when you are driving in the motorway. Competing against premium estates such as the Audi A4 Avant, BMW 3 Series Touring and Volvo V50, the X-Type Estate certainly needs to be up to speed - and it is.Far from being a tentative, forced step into the estate market, the X-Type Estate is the finished article.
