5 Stars Handy for Gandhi! Review with images 05/02/2006

Advantages Advantages One of the best IPAs around at the moment.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Far too easy to drink!

I always like to support my local breweries. Especially when they produce such excellent beers as Thornbridge Hall Brewery! I am lucky enough to be able to sample their beers very regularly in a variety of my local pubs. My job as Tasting Panel Chairman for my local branch of CAMRA (CAMpaign for Real Ale) also means that I got a chance to go to the Hall to do tasting notes for their beers. ~~~THE BREWERY. Thornbridge Hall Brewery is a relatively new business which can be found in some former derelict buildings, attached to Thornbridge Hall, in Ashford in the Water in Derbyshire. The "Baby ... more

5 Stars Jaiper IPA- A classic in the making Review with images 15/06/2011

Advantages Advantages full, satiating IPA no need to have more than two

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lacing takes a knock from the high alcohol

From a relatively new brewery with over 170 awards to its credit comes a beer with the legs to go down through history as a classic. This citrus dominated India Pale Ale, is a beer to be savoured. Though it is not faithfull to the original brittish IPA this beer is to be applauded even if it may take some of its essence from its american cousin by way of the hops used. this beer is said to ''build to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey'' however i find that it is immediately hoppy from the minute you open the bottle you know by the potent smell wafting forth that this is not ... more

Advantages Advantages Top quality IPA with a wonderful hoppy flavour

Disadvantages Disadvantages More than 6 pints and you run out of superlatives!

My first experience of Jaipur IPA was in March 2007. I was holidaying in a cottage in the Peak District and decided to try a pint in the village local. I do have a penchant for hoppy beers and on taking my first sip realised that here was something special. Several pints later I trudged back down the lane in the snow to the cottage, already looking forward to returning to the same establishment the following evening. That following evening as the barman poured my first pint of Jaipur I wondered whether it would be as superb as my first encounter the previous night as things generally tend to ... more

Advantages Advantages Great value, fantastic well-crafted flavour

Disadvantages Disadvantages .You can't fault perfection

Jaipur........ Geewhizz! This is the stuff. Takes you straight to Nirvana from the first drop. If you enter the pub feeling depressed you'll leave elated and if you don't have one original thought in your head this will make you into an existentialist philosopher, for as long as it lasts anyway. It is nectar, it is ambrosia...... "drive dull care away." Without all the CAMRA babble it is full-bodied, golden, honeyed without being too sweet, and "complex" a bit like my idea of the perfect woman. Whether you like lager or beer this should appeal to both camps. It's brewed by Thornbridge and is ... more
