Advantages Good controls, variety of weapons and modes

Disadvantages Repetitive, hard

I got this game as a present 2 years ago and played it for a while before stopping because it was getting too hard and a bit boring.

AIM OF THE GAME

Unlike previous Jak games, throughout the game you are constantly in a vehicle and cannot get out. The basic way the game works is that you are in a car that has weapons at the front and back and can do short turbo boosts. There are a variety of modes where you can do things like race but shooting people to get them out of your way, destroying as many other cars as possible in a time limit and smashing into things to name a few.

COLLECTING THE STUFF

Weapons and turbos are collected by driving through coloured blobs not unlike other games like Crash Nitro Kart. Yellow blobs are front weapons. These include machine guns, bombs, missiles etc. Red blobs are rear weapons/protection and these include shields, gun turrets, mines etc. Blue blobs are turbos.

SINGLE PLAYER

In single player mode you race in 4 leagues progressively adding points to your vehicles attributes like acceleration and turbo speed and strength. Different races are available and after a certain amount there is a final for each league. The game obviously gets harder as it goes on but it also got repetitive repetitive repetitive and the hardness coupled with this made me bored and annoyed and I stopped playing it. Getting the hang of the game was also hard and when I tried to go back to it after a while this also proved too hard and I gave up.

MULTIPLAYER

There is also a multiplayer mode where you can play against friends locally or over the net in all the game modes.

CONTROLS

The controls are actually good because they have the R1 and L1 buttons as firing buttons just like triggers and the turbo is R2, all of these controls falling under easily used fingers straight away.

WHAT I THINK

I'm not sure if I would recommend this to other buyers but I think I would say if you have lots of money and don't mind about finishing then go ahead but otherwise don't get this- it will eventually bore you and/or get too hard.
