Advantages Extensive single-player, graphics

Disadvantages Lackluster multiplayer

Everything or Nothing is EA’s first foray into third person territory on a next generation console, and mostly EA have done a damn good job with it. Is it Perfect? No. Is it awful? No. Is it the best Bond game ever? Maybe. On one side, as an overall Bond experience it does a hell of a better job than the N64 Classic Goldeneye, on the other, it doesn’t exactly play as well – it could have, with a few more months development time, but as it stands the faults are only minor, but big enough to, at times, irritate. Let’s just get on with it – now then, faults…

Every game has them and EON is no exception. Aiming is wonky, the camera doesn’t always follow Bond as well as it could & it’s not the longest, hardest experience in the world either. L1 locks you onto the enemy, R1 shoots ‘em to bits. Simple. To add a bit of complexity to the gun-ho action, inside each “target” is a circle that’s movable using the right analogue stick, wherever that circle lies is where the bullets will end up – this works great when enemies don’t know you’re around but when you’ve got upwards of 4 guards shooting your insides out you tend not to use it (thankfully the circle, most of the time, is centred slap-bang in the centre of the target so if you don’t wish to use it, you don’t have to).

The story's typical Bond stuff, and kept me playing through to the very end. Nano Robot technology has been stolen from Oxford University and it’s down to Bond to get it back before all out hell breaks loose. While that’s going on you’ve also got to contend with random encounters with Jaws – random in the sense it’s unexpected and not random where every time you turn the game on he’ll appear in a different place, but it’s fine the way it is anyway and just brings the game yet another step closer to the films. Character wise EA couldn’t have splashed anymore cash at it. Pierce Brosnan, Willem Dafoe (as Nikolai Diavolo), Judi Dench (as M), John Cleese, Mya As, Heidi Clum, Shannon Elizabeth, Richard Keil, the list is endless. When it comes too great production values no one comes close like EA.

Gadgets, it just wouldn’t be Bond without them and this game has absolutely got them in abundance. A metal spider that, when activated, blows up. A bike with mounted flame throwers, rocket launches and a shotgun in the glove compartment and of course what would the game be without the infamous Aston Martin? EA haven’t just thrown in the car either, they’ve thrown in the bloody gadgets too. Heat seeking missles? Check. Machine guns? Yep. Oil Slick? Of course.

This is a game you’ll really enjoy if you’re a Bond fan and even if your not at the very least you should rent it. Is this a better game than Goldeneye? No. Is it a better Bond game? Yes – until EON2, this is the best Bond experience your gonna get. Until then though, get this. It’s Bond, as you've always wanted it.
