QUANTUM OF SOLACE PS3

Quick review : Overall its a respectable game.

My gameplay experience

Im a bond fan and i like bond games.I rented this game for two days and played this in my home PS3. The opening sequence of thi game is great and the "classical bond intro" scene where Daniel Craig walks and shoots and the Blood Curtain falls is well structured and crafted to pefection. The graphics of this scene is superb, especially bond characterisation and modeling.

Whe in-game the bond gadgets like laser watch and goggles and more wider range of "Fascinating supernatural" gadgets are very cool to use.

Also Olga Kurylenko looks good in-game. She wears all those "Good Looking" outfits which makes her really sexy, but only when the game is played in HD ie., LCD TV., otherwise she looks good.

Also other characters who appear in the movie like "Felix Leiter" played by Jeffrey Wright ,"Mathis" played by Giancarlo Giannini, "M" played by Judi Dench etc., all appear in-game. Their modeling is also good.

Now when it comes to gameplay, the game doesn't stick much to its stroyline which is also not that strong. The game is just RAW Action where the player directly takes the role of James Bond who in this game as well as in the film seeks revenge for the death of his lady love Vesper Lynd (Casino Royale) and the group to which she was working for and to reveal the secrets behind her.

So this game itself plays just as you would expect it, as it is a high-octane action-adventure title that attempts to put you right in the role of James Bond himself.

The game, with how it is set up, really rewards those who act like Bond, taking their time and using their brains to think things out.

Bond characterisation, his attire, the weapons that he uses and all his gadgets are very good looking and perfrom well in-game too.

But here is not really much plot here though, as all of the action and levels move at a pace that really keeps the story from catching any foundation.

Still the game plays out very smoothly as the in-game controls are well assigned which makes gun firing and using other "Bond Gadgets" really fun to use and very cool and enjoyable as it pushes our adrinaline to the limits in most parts of the game. The Meele attacks are good and when combined with gun shooting its cool to manouver.

As for the bad, there are clearly some issues here with the animations due to the fact that you end up seeing the same canned sequences by enemies over and over again. This makes the game play monatenous at times. On top of that, the visual effects with explosions and such are not up to par. High end explosives are not really high End afterall in this game. They blast up in such a way that it makes the player to feel it like a mere gun fire afterall, no heavy explosions. This is not we expect from TreyArch.
Gameplay Types

When it comes down to the actual replay value, the single-player campaign is not all that long and can be plowed through in a weekend or so.

Treyarch has included an Online component though to allow you to jump online with up to 12 players in a match. You get some pretty standard modes such as co-op, death match, etc. The online mode adds to the experience, but is nothing groundbreaking. Though this online componet is a good idea its fells like it has been added to the game as a mere substitute for the shot single player gameplay span.

I got fed up after playing Co-Op play for 15 minutes. Maps are not that good and the animations get jerky and textured in most poarts of online play and is boring too.

Conclusion and my Rating

Here goes the conclusion from my experience of gameplay.

Quantum of Solace is a respectable game on the Sony PS3, and one which Bond fans will not be disappointed in. There is a good deal of enjoyment to be had with the solid controls and use of the Bond license. When it boils down to it though, the entire package is pretty average.

Graphics: 8.0 A good looking game with nicely detailed environments and character models.

Sound: 8.0 The score sounds great, as are the voice-overs.

Gameplay: 7.0 The game is enjoyable and is fun to control, but not much here in terms of innovation. Things can get very repetitive.

Replay Value: 7.0 The single player campaign is not all that long, and don't expect much from the multi-player.

Final Score: 7.8

I recommend this game to those who love action packed game and for Bond lovers like me. But one expects a true Bond game, then this is not just the correct one for you, please wait till the next game releases because this is not just as good as "007 Everything or Nothing" Bond game, that game really rocked.

I rate this game Satisfactory due to its character animation, bond gadgets and fast paced action packed single player campaign. I would have rated this "Good" (without considering online gameplay as Bond games infact don't require an on-line gameplay considering the plot and story of the game) if it had an improved environmental setup and weapon explosion.

If you find this review useful, please rate this review and leave your feedback too which would be very useful for me.

This is truly my opinion which is based upon my gameplay experience and is not copied from any site.

Thanks.

Well, it's not too common to have someone write another and quote from their previous review. But yes, I should have realised the editing and guessed from the grammar.

Comment left by scream4bruce is wrong. i wrote the same review there at dbtechno and i quoted some lines here too. So its better if you think tqice before you post your comment Mr. Bruce. :-)

Whilst I do believe some of this is your own work, you feel the need to say "This is truly my opinion which is based upon my gameplay experience and is not copied from any site." when this is not true as there are many lines that can be found at: http://www.dbtechno.com/gaming/2008/11/09/james-bond-quantum-of-solace-ps3-review/
