When it comes to games based on James Bond there is one title which stands out like a skycraper in a village - "Goldeneye N64". First person shooter "Quantum of Solace" is not as good as that... more

Advantages Advantages Enjoyable gameplay with some good features.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Graphics are not particually good.

Quantum of Solace is the first Bond game to be released on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 and I was hoping for quite a lot as I loved the classic Bond games that were for the old PS2. It has been designed by Activision and features a very similar control system and the same graphics engine (apparently) that was used in the very successful Call of Duty 4 but also has some great new features that make the game play very enjoyable. Although it is a first person game it has a very good 3rd person cover system which allows you to blind fire from cover, a lot like the system on Gears of War. Also when ... more

Advantages Advantages Good graphics. It's Bond.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't match up to other big games

Quantum of Solace (xbox 360) needs little introduction, it's mainly based on the latest 007 film of the same name, although there's a little overlap with Casino Royale too. This game was developed by Treyarch, who also made Call of Duty 3 (but not Call of Duty 4 which was made by Infinity Ward) and is based on the engine from the Golden Joysticks Game of the Year, Call of Duty 4. Prices vary from shop to shop but expect to pay around £35-40 for the xbox 360 version. The game has single and multi-player modes. Single-player The single-player mode follows the story of the film(s) quite closely ... more

Advantages Advantages Playable, fun shooter level, good sense of 007

Disadvantages Disadvantages Little activity on multiplayer

When it comes to games based on James Bond there is one title which stands out like a skycraper in a village - "Goldeneye N64". First person shooter "Quantum of Solace" is not as good as that classic but I think it is definitely a step above most 007 entries. Daniel Craig, Eva Green and Judi Dench provide authentic voice acting and their avatars have a reasonable likeness. Based on the two Daniel Craig movies, it begins with James Bond infiltrating the villa of the mysterious Mr White and fighting his army of guards. This prologue efficiently introduces the gameplay, including taking cover and ... more

Advantages Advantages Good cover system, COD4 engine, good weapons

Disadvantages Disadvantages Range of weapons not wide enough, story at times confusing

Ah movie tie-ins...Aren't they just great? Well, actually no they're not. To date movie tie-ins have been some of the worst games released. Luckily Quantum of Solace is not one of those games. To be fair QOS had a bit of a head-start as it uses Call of Duty 4's brilliant engine. This really helps make it a good FPS. As a result the game runs with almost the same class and fluidity as COD4. I was impressed by the guns in this game. They are all enjoyable to play with from assault rifles to SMGs through to shotguns. And the Sniper Rifle that you use in two of the single-player levels is ... more

Advantages Advantages Brilliant graphics, brilliant story, brilliant game!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not much longevity.

James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace is an Xbox 360 game where the epic film character goes on missions as you fight and play through the same storyline as the James Bond films Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale. James Bond is an exceptionally brilliant game. Quantum of Solace has very good graphics and shows lots of detail in the game. For a shooter game it can sometimes be hard or the makers have made it hard to shoot but in James Bond: Quantum of Solace there is no hardness or uncontrolability shooting but at the same time, it's as hard as you would want it to be when you shoot down your ... more
