I watched Jamie's programme about 30 minute meals and always found it fascinating how he could make so many meals in just 30 minutes so when his book came out I couldn't wait to get it and give it a go myself. I must say that I have not been able to achieve making the dishes in 30 minutes but I have been able to make them in around 40 minutes which has been quite a success considering they have been quite complex.

The book is very well laid out so that you can flick through it and find a recipe which attracts you. There are pictures which accompany each recipe which is always a good idea as usually I choose what I want to eat judging by how nice the picture is!

The recipes are laid out well and in a different style to normal- usually you are told how to make each part of a dish separately but with this book it tells you all in one so that you are learning to make the most of your time which is how he manages to make it all come together within 30 minutes. I found this a bit chaotic if i'm honest and it left me a bit flustered sometimes especially if one step was taking me a bit longer than it was supposed to then I worried i would be burning whatever was on the hob or whatever.

It certainly is a different way of cooking. You do make use of your time and it has helped me make different use of my time in a positive way.

There are 50 recipes in total so you do get a good variety of foods from snacks, big meals, sides etc.

The book is hardback which is ideal for a recipe book so you can hold it open better than you could a paper back.

I think if you enjoy cooking and are a good cook then this would be a good book to buy seeing as it's different so it may give you some ideas. It's also good if you are cooking for a family so that you can learn to save time.

In my opinion it's worth 4 stars as it is a bit chaotic and I must say I haven't been able to make them in 30 minutes myself!
