After looking around at alot of other car seats and travel systems i read a thread on a baby website mentioning the revolutionary carseat that is the Matrix. I really wanted a lay flat carseat as i'd been told form various sources that babies should not be in the upright position carseats for more than an 1.5hours. This was no good to me if i was going on an afternoon shopping trip or for a long drive. The problem i had was that i had a corsa and this really didn't have a big boot. So most of the travel systems that had lay flat car seat wouldn't fit in the boot. After seeing the Matrix mentioned i decided to look into it and found a shop near us thay was a UK Jane Dealer. We Paid them a visit and gave the travel system a test drive and decided it was just what we where looking for! We ended up getting the Jane carrera with the Matrix to fit on it.
All in all we have been very happy with the Matrix, Its very sturdy, looks incredibly stylish and our baby was always happy when in it, whether in the car or on the carrera. The major downside for us was that by 6 months our son was already getting to big for it and didn't really look comfy in it any longer so we had to upgrade to a fixed next stage car seat. Other downsides are it is quite fiddly to attach in the car (easy to clip on to the travel system though), is quite heavy and by the time darling son was 4 months old I was struggling to lift it further than from the car onto the travel system. Also it doesn't fit on shopping trolleys like other first stage carseats do. A couple of other good points is that the cover comes off so it can be washed (especially good if you have a sicky baby) and it comes in lots if different colours.
Although it was expensive as part of a travel system (£400+ for Matrix + Carrera) I felt it was well worth the money and will definatly be using it when we have the next one!

Advantages: Baby can lie flat, adjustable positions, versatile, good quality finish Disadvantages: Adjustment/fitting to car can be tricky, takes up the whole rear seat when flat
