The jasmines are renowned for the strong fragrance of the flowers of many species, although the winter jasmine, so often grows as a winter-flowering, hardy climber, has yellow flowers which are scentless.
Jasminium officinale is the most well known and most often grown. Its white flowers appear from early summer right through to autumn, on a plant which can climb to 10 feet and which is hardy in sheltered gardens. Jasminium polyanthum flowers from mid winter onwards, and its pink flowers are deliciously scented,
The jasmines are not truly evergreen, although they may not drop all their leaves when grown in the home. This plant needs protection all year round. when grown in the garden. They grow very fast, and need plenty of space and supports, they also need as much light as possible all year round. Temperatures need not be high at any time and in winter they can drop to 40 farenheight or even lower for Jasminium officinales and 45 farenheight for Jasminium polyanthum, raising it a little as the flowering begins.
Normal summer temperatures will be satisfactory. Use a standard potting compost and feed at regular intervals in summer with a potash high fertilizer.
The jasmines will be much in need of pruning if they are to be kept under control in the home. The best time to do this is after flowering has nearly finished. In late summer for Jasminium officinales. Remove the shoots which have flowered and cut some of the others back to keep them within the space available. Jasminium polyanthum should be cut back in the same way when flowering has finished, some time in spring, so that the rest of the growing season in which to produce new shoots for the next flowering season.

Advantages: Winter flowers - a scarce commodity! Disadvantages: Gets a bit straggly with age
...no prizes!).
The winter Jasmine will surprise you in the cold days of January and February with its small bright yellow flowers. The flowers come out before the leaves, so you get a cluster of bare stems sparkling with yellow. Winter Jasmine (Jasminum nudiflorum if you want to look for it in the Garden Centre) is a climbing shrub which will happily scramble over a fence, or through a hedge. If you want it to grow up a wall, give it some trellis ... ...prevent it becoming “leggy”. Winter Jasmine will flower best if it’s planted where it will receive the maximum amount of winter sun.
And if you want to bring its winter cheer indoors, you can. Cut a few stems when the flowers are just in bud, and put them in water. You’ll be surprised how long they last!
Be careful if you go to buy one. Make sure you’re getting the Winter Jasmine, because this is a big family, and most of its relatives are summer ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of Jasmine
I am concentrating this review however on the Ruby Jasmine fragrance. I had been using the Black Diamond and Lotus flower but I found the smell was a bit too overpowering for me so I decided to try another variety.
The bottle was packaged amazingly and did look really nice. You could tell it was Lenor as the name was written on it and it did look a bit like their other products but I would say the bottle was designed more like an upmarket perfume bottle. The Ruby Jasmine bottle has a lovely picture of what I assume to be a white jasmine flower on the front with a lovely big ruby next to it sparkling away! The bottle was a gorgeous ruby red colour and an almost jewel looking colour to it. The tag line of this softener says it is meant to be elegant and sophisticated. Well, going by the bottle, this was definitely true to start with ...
♥♥ Lenor Infusions ♥♥ Ruby Jasmine ♥♥
I love fabric softeners and I always add some to each and every wash I do; simply because I like the added softness on my clothes and the fact that the fabric softeners fragrance the clothes too. I usually do two or three separate washes per day, which is understandable considering there are three kids and two adults in our house hold, not to mention 2 dogs and 2 cats who are just as messy as the kids. On average I could easily polish off 2 full bottles of fabric softener in 10 days or so, I like to use different fragranced fabric softeners regularly; usually I purchase 2 bottles of fabric softener per week to cope with the massive amounts of washing I tend to do daily. When I go to Tesco's I just pick out two different fragranced fabric softeners, I don ...
Advantages: A super soft and exotically fragranced conditioner Disadvantages: none..
Ruby jasmine, what a seductive name for a laundry product, the bottle has that certain something about it too !
A rich ruby red bottle with Jasmine and a ruby flirting on the front.
Apparently Lenor didn't only team up with the perfumier Rojo Dove but they also teamed up with Cosmopolitan magazine for the launch of their new infusions range.
They asked the readers what they thought of the fragrance and 93%
said they would recommend it to a friend. .
The new range has four very alluring fragrances :
Ruby Jasmine- fruity and light floral
Sapphire violet- Delicate,romantic and enticing
Amethyst rose- cool and serene ,with overt sensuality
Black diamond and Lotus flower-very exotic florals and musk
I have to say that the line up sounds very adult and top drawer!
But the fruity light Ruby Jasmine won the day for me,I popped ...
