Jay-Be Romance Metal Bedstead/Bed Frame

When we moved into our new house last year, our two young daughters had gone from sharing a box room with bunk beds to have a large spacious bedroom each. The bunk beds that we had in our old house could be separated but as they were junior beds (smaller than a single); we decided it was the right time to invest in some new furniture. Despite having the expense of moving etc, we decided against buying too cheap and having to replace again in a couple of years and so we decided to spend a little more for quality (but for as cheap as possible!!). This meant scouring furniture stores for decent makes, etc, for sale items. We found this Jay-Be ‘Romance’ single bed and knew it would be perfect for our eldest (more girly!) daughter.

With an RRP of £499, it had been reduced to around £175 but we managed to get a little extra knocked off as we agreed to buy a mattress too (we were going to anyway but they weren’t to know that in the shop!). The bed is a traditional metal bedframe with a sweeping top and end. It was available to buy in black, ivory, pewter or pink. We were in two minds whether or not to buy the pink one for our daughter, however we decided on the ivory so she doesn’t outgrow it when she gets a little older. We decided instead to accessorise with pink bedding, cushions, etc., that can be changed over time as she grows older. It will go with any décor or style of furniture as it is such a classic style.

The bed comes with a 10 year manufacturer’s guarantee. This provides a guarantee against material faults and workmanship but hopefully we won’t ever need this.

It seems to be a good solid bed and has a sprung slatted mattress support. The bed comes in single, double or king size. The only thing with these types of metal beds is the head board when sitting up. isn't particularly comfortable to rest against, but we have tons of pillows, cushions etc on the bed so this helps!

It looks classic yet modern and always gets comments on when we have visitors. It isn’t (I would say) a natural choice of bed for a young girl, as it is so classic (it reminds me of bed knobs and broomsticks!), but it makes her room look so pretty and girly. The romance is definitely the right name for it!

It comes as a flat pack but between me and my husband we had it built in around half an hour, with no issues at all.

If you are looking for a good quality bed from a trusted name then I would have to recommend the Jay-Be Romance, but please do look around for the right price!!
