One nondescript Wednesday, I found myself drawn into the perfumery section of a department store. (I'm taking the tablets, I can control it now.)
While browsing through the available scented delights on show, I noticed something that looked like nothing I had seen before. After the assistant had moved, I saw the Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male fragrance.
Le Male is available in several other forms from the aftershave spray, including a deodorant stick and a shower gel.
The aftershave spray bottle is of a unique design, shaped like a male torso, initially emphasising the original nature of the product.
The fragrance is completely different to anything I have ever used before. I have found that a lot of designer fragrances can all be similar in scent and their bottle design, whereas Le Male stands out from the crowd on both of these counts.
Le Male smells initially very fresh and woody, then becomes slightly more floral and arid. The overall scent is dabbling in regions of femininity in which male fragrences don't usually tend to dwell; it is what I would describe as more camp than 'traditional' male fragrances.
It is a fragrance that I have found to be mianly suitable for evening wear, but has also been acceptable for work and more relaxed wear as well.
Le Male was initially marketed and aimed more towards the gay community. It is, in my opinion, suitable for all. Most of my friends and colleagues who have tried Le Male have since gone on to use the fragrance on a regular basis.
The longevity of the scent is also good, with the product not wearing off too quickly, but without being initially overpowering when first applied. I have also not known anyone complain of any adverse skin reactions after using Le Male.
It is also a product that isn't overpriced, with a RRP of £27.50 for 50ml being a standard price for fragrances of this quality and stature.
I would have to recommend this product, not only because of it's original design, fragrance and longevity, but also because of it's flexibility. A lot of my female friends use Le Male, and it doesn't seem out of place with their personal outfits and styles.
Overall, a very good item to adorn any bathroom cabinet. If nothing else, it makes a good air freshener!
Advantages: Attractive packaging, long-lasting, heavy Disadvantages: Not for those who like light fragrances
Walk into some bars in our towns and cities and you cannot fail to notice the smell of Jean-Paul Gaultier after-shave! It's powerful - but wonderful and sexy.
Gaultier is one of many fashion designers whose put his name to a fragrance and, unlike some, it really works. He has also had a hand in the overall design of the product - which is one of the most attractive on the market. What looks like a tin can opens to reveal a blue, sculpted male torso ...

Advantages: You will make an impression! Disadvantages: Bit pricey..but worth it!
I first smelt this aftershave 3-4 years ago and my first impression was WOW!!! The guy who wore the aftershave has since become a distant memory but the scent of him lingers on in my imagination. I have bought this aftershave for my partner many times because the smell is one I never want to forget.
Imagine a hot sultry night, gentle breeze and the distant sound of the waves beating the shore.. the smell of summer, romance and hedonistic spices ...

Advantages: Sexy smelling boyfriend Disadvantages: might get other girls attention
I first smelt this at Norwich airport when me and my other half where trying to waste some time. Im very funny about mens smells, like my boyfriend used to wear links which should be called stinks. Its like the cheap mans deodrant!! Guys dont do it!
The first time i ever smelt this i instantly thought it was amazing! Its a smell i could just sit and sniff all day long!! (lol)
I absolutly love it when my other half puts it on it really is a babe ... ...for him for xmas althought im not the kind to splash the cash it was a little expensive for an aftershave, It cost me £40 but it was a last minuet dash to the shops so im sure you can find it cheaper in other places.! I brought it form a perfume shop but i know you can get it from places like boots super drug etc.. But if you are looking for cheap like i said you can get it in airports (cheaper in other countries!) and also im sure you can find deals ...

Advantages: Great long lasting smell, nice bottle Disadvantages: A little more expensive than others on the market
I was bought this aftershave for Christmas this year by my girlfriend. I liked it so much; I thought I would share my opinion of it with Ciao.
Packaging
JeanPaulGaultier 'LeMale' comes in a silver tin with the 'JeanPaulGaultier' label embossed on the front. You can pull the bottom of the tin off, and the bottle of aftershave sits in a stand on the base, which is attached to the base of the tin. Inside the top section of the tin is a white plastic section which holds the top of the bottle square inside the tin, once the bottle is back inside which stops it from rattling around and possibly being smashed inside.
The bottle itself is typical of JeanPaulGaultieraftershave and comes in their famous body shaped bottle. This particular bottle is in the theme of a sailor. The bottle is an off navy blue with white stripes ...
Advantages: Nice smelling, not over-powering, suitable for many occasions Disadvantages: Not one of the best
particular time as it is suitable for many occasions such as daytime wear and when going out. I probably wouldn't wear it to work, for example, as it is too nice.
Bottle design - The bottle is quite different and stylish without being too over the top.
I have had many comments when wearing this aftershave so it must have done something right!
I would recommend this as it's not very expensive, smells good and is long-lasting. However, I would not say it is one of my favourites, although it was when I first got it. As I have purchased more and more aftershaves I have preferred them (e.g. Usher He, JeanPaulGaultierLeMale, Joup Homme) to this, although it still does remain a nice smelling fragrance which isn't over-powering.

Advantages: Great Scent & Attracts The Ladies Disadvantages: Can be expensive.
on the people I am around quite often.
It comes in various amounts:
» 2.5 oz EDT Spray
» 2.5 oz EDT Spray Refill
» 4.2 oz EDT Spray
And it also come’s in packs and some little gifts. My girlfriends bought me a little mirrored box that when open it contains a small bottle of the men’s JeanPaulGaultierLeMale and the ladies JeanPaulGaultier. Very cute and handy.
LeMale also comes in:
- 4.2 oz Self-Tanning Face & Body Lotion
- Aftershave splash
- Body Deoderant
For the large Eau de toilette bottle, you would expect to pay around £40 -£50 pound and for the smaller bottle around £33 - £40. I’m not quite sure about the prices of the aftershave and refills – I’m only doing a review on the eau de toilette but I know from before that the deoderant is around £17.
I would most definitely recommend ...
