Advantages: Has many refinements as standard Disadvantages: Paintwork is very soft. Diesel is noisy in town driving

The drive is fine, comfortable and does have many refinements. However I have had a number of teething problems which it has been in and out for to the dealer. Aircon never worked went in for twice - Key continually stuck in the ignition lock and wouldn't come out no matter where you put the automatic box. Often couldn't get it out of park mode even with much pressure on the brakes. Brakes often felt soft and peddle went down on to the floor when stood still - techniciaian came and advised there was a problem - went into the garage where they advised it was normal!!
I bought a black one and would never be so silly again. I also had it done with Diamond Brite at extra cost and don't know why I bothered. The paint work is extremely soft and it marks very easily. Slight scratches seem to appear for no reason. The paintwork appears to have like oil marks on it which I cannot get off - this is all supposed to be stopped with Diamond Brite (aacording to their blurb)but it doesn't - I went back to the main agent and they advised it had tree sap on it !!!! *(rubbish) - again which Diamond Brite is supposed to cure. As of yet no help with it. Cleaning it is horrendous and the marks never seem to come off. This is a vehicle only 5 months old and which I take great care of.
I was advised by a garage that does body work for the dealership that it needs to be done with Teflon not Diamond Brite - he agreed the body paintwork is very soft. He also told me that it cannot possibly be compared with a Shogun - he advised that this isn't a real 4x4 but merely a car made to look like a 4x4 and was in all essence -CRAP.
To be honest I am looking to sell it early - make a loss and get a proper 4x4 again. Don't listen to the sales blurb - it isn't true.
Advantages: Safe, easy to drive reliable Disadvantages: a little thirsty, has a nasty blind spot
This is the fourth 4 by 4 I've owned and by far the best. Ive had two Land Rover freelanders which were perhaps better built but actually very basic and boreing to drive. I suspect this model is comming to the end of is run and ,as usual, there are some good deals around with many extras being thrown in as standard. I chose the all black version, no chrome at all and I think it really works, Americans have never lost there love of Chrome on cars ... ...comparison .The black tinted windows are a must and set it all of perfect. I have the Auto version which is a big plus over the Land Rover but it has to be said the pick up is slow from standing and you can get caught out pulling into traffic till you get used to it. It is thirsty, but not drasticly considering its wieght. The onboard computer shows me doing about 26.5 MPG mixed motorway and rural roads. Its not so quiet as the Land Rover diesel when ...

Advantages: Excellent off-road; towing a horse box will present it with no problems Disadvantages: Lcks the on-road handling and finesse of many of its rivals
...with power - the latest Jeep Cherokee helps keep the iconic US brand ahead of the game when it comes to looking butch !
Our friends "across the pond" I discovered have made some interesting changes to the European version that now sports a much more refined diesel engine. The revised 2.8 CRD has a new 2.8-litre DOHC 16-valve common-rail turbo diesel engine. With its Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) and rapid throttle response, this engine enables ... ...2,000 rpm with the 5-speed automatic transmission, and best-in-class towing capacity of up to 2,800 kgs and a driving range of 450 miles. Maximum power is 174 bhp at 3,800 rpm. The new 2.8-litre CRD engine also provides a weight saving of approximately 6%, achieves increased cam belt life (durability now of 140,000 kms).
The VGT now has an electronically controlled actuator as opposed to a pneumatic actuator on the previous engine. This provided ...
