Jennifer first came to our attention through the Big Screen starring in such films as Anaconda, Jack, The Cell, The Wedding Planner, Enough and the newly released film Maid in Manhatten. To date she has 15 films to her name and 3 to be released soon.
Her music career began just over 2 years ago with her debut single If You Had My Love. Since then her records top the charts world wide and she won The Best Female Artist award from MTV europe last year.
Her personal life is widely reported through the media. Most recently is her engagement and impending marriage to Actor Ben Affleck.
On top of all this she has launched a new restaurant, clothing line and also a new perfume 'GLOW' by J.LO. J.LO is the nickname given to her by her fans which she decided to use as an alternative to her longer name.

If my memory doesn't deceive me I do believe there was a recall of the first batch due to the fact that it triggered attacks of asthma, but dont hold me to that. It became one of the top 5 ranking perfumes in stores across America over the christmas season.
But since August 2002 there hangs an air of controversy over 'GLOW', as GLOW INDUSTRIES INC filed a lawsuit angainst Miss Lopez and her partner fragrance company COTY INC, accusing them of 'DILUTION' of trademark, unfair competition and violating the LANAHAM act. Glow industries manufacture and sell fragrences too, as well as skin lotions, moisturisers and other beauty products.
Insider reports suggest that although Miss Lopez may continue using the 'GLOW' name for her perfume until the courtcase, there may be a chance it will have to be withdrawn and returned under another name in the future.
So I had better be quick and a write a review before 'GLOW' disappears from the shelves.
GLOW is not just the name for a perfume, it is infact a range of products.

I would like to focus on the perfume for my review and will start with the bottle.
On first sight it is very eyecatching and compared to other perfume bottles is very distinctive. It is made of frosted white glass which appears pink where you see the liquid inside. The base is 'bulb' shaped and obviously flat at one end so it can stand. The other end tapers into a long thin neck with a silver band at the neck which has Glow by JLO written on it and then there is a white see through cap covering the spray nozzle.
But the most noticable accessorie to the bottle is the double necklace with j.Lo pendant hanging from it. The silver chain is infact silver twisted thin cord but it does really look like a chain. The top chain is looped around the beginning of the neck and is brought together slightly lower down at the front and threaded through an oblong silver bead and immerges out from the bottom of this until 2cm down it again is threaded through another bead along with the second chain which has been looped around the bottle about 2cm below the top chain. When both chains emerge from the bottom bead they continue down for 1 cm then are fixed into another bead with a loop at the bottom. On this loop hangs the j.Lo pendant which again is silver.
The pendant is infact a raised moulding of the name j.lo with the the bottom line of the 'L' having the o sitting on it. Within this mould are diamonds......NO not real ones!!!. The pendant is the only part that is attached firmly to the bottle.
The spray works by pressing down, but be warned as I personally believe that too much perfume comes out with one spray and for the price I believe they could have designed it to be more sparing.
So now to the smell of the perfume. It is here that I would like to incorporate some information I found at J.los online shop site. I think it is necessary to include this to compare what J.Lo was attempting to achieve and how the smell rates in comparison.
It was the intention that GLOW achieves a 'FRESH-SEXY-CLEAN' smell.
The FRESH smell comes from Orange Flower and Grapefruit and these 'TONES OF CITRUS' are supposed to 'START THE SCENT OFF ON A HIGH NOTE'. They arent joking either as I needed to sit down when I first sprayed this one. My head just blew away and I felt really dizzy. I didnt smell any citrus fruits......more like an OD (overdose) of alcohol fumes. Beware NOT to sniff this as soon as you spray it. Going back to what I said earlier about remembering hearing that a batch of GLOW was recalled because they triggered asthma attacks-I fear this is still the case as this is so overpowering and I needed a few moments to get my head down from its HIGH........I hate to think what the first batch was like, if indeed this rumour is true.
The SEXY smell comes from a combination of ROSE; SANDELWOOD and SOFT AMBER and these 'SHEER FLORALS UNFOLD PROVOCATIVELY'. Ok now think back to the last time you sprayed air freshner around your house. They are always so strong when you first spray them and this is what GLOW smells like for about 15 mins after you have put it on. Granted the house smells lovley and I dont mean that you know someone has sprayed a perfume and the smell lingers.....this smell reminds me of air freshner.
The CLEAN smell comes from TRANSPARENT JASMINE, VANILLA, MUSK and ORRIS (whatever that is) and they 'BEG FOR YOU TO GET CLOSER'. Well considering the fact that any sensible person within 10 feet of you has left the house when you first spray this perfume, of course the only thing left is to 'BEG' them to come back. BEG indeed!!!! As for the TRANSPARENT JASMINE, well its so transparent that it vanished into oblivon. After half an hour there is still no trace of it. I can just about detect some sandelwood at this point. But yes it does smell CLEAN in a detergenty kind of way and now there is an element of freshness creeping in which is rather remanicent of furniture polish.
Now here I want to quote what they claim the result of this fragrance is 'THE RESULT IS A SKIN-SCENT...REAL, INTIMATE, EXCITING. A SCENT AS IMMACULATEAND CREAMY AS A LUSH WHITE ROSE. AND AS SEXY AS JENNIFER LOPEZ'
Isnt it ironic that Jennifer has just made a new film 'MAID IN MANHATTON' because this perfume reminds me so much of household cleaning products that I am positive she must have reeked like this while playing the role of a maid in a hotel.......so yes I guess you do get to smell like her......but I am aprehensive to say the least, to say this perfume is sexy!!!! Unless of course you are into dressing up as Maids to get your thrills.
I am just so sad that this product is aimed at young girls and fans of Jennifer because it isnt cheap. I bought the bottle I have here for my daughter for Christmas and she isn't too impressed with it either and will not be asking me for it again.
I think the problem with this perfume is that too many fragrances where used. It is too confusing and doesnt really know which direction it wants to go in.
I personally wouldn't be sad to see it removed from the shelves and will avoid any new products coming out in the near future. It is a cheap and nasty smell carrying an expensive price tag.

...numerous other actresses before her, J.Lo has lent her name to a scent. And it appears that the diva and her namesake perfume have a lot in common - it tends to be a case of love it or hate it, there is very little middle ground.
The bottle that so caught my eye as I hurried through Boots is an elegant tall and curvaceous frosted glass affair. It's very tactile and smooth, the shape organic and flowing and slightly unsymetrical. Around the neck ... ...and on the necklace is a pendant bearing the name J-Lo in silver picked out in glittering crystals. It is a stunning bottle, really pretty. The only thing that disappointed me is that the necklace is part of the bottle and can't be taken off and worn - now that would have made it truly unique.

Anything designed by Jennifer Lopez had to be sexy, right? Well I think so anyway.. Well, my first encounter with this fragrance was Christmas last year. The name tag Jennifer Lopez basically sold this to me, I'm an easy target, what more can I say.
Usually I like to try and test my fragrances, but my fiancé purchased it for me without even a whiff of it passing my nose.
The design of the bottle, I felt looked expensive and breath taking. With ... ...looked every much the diva style fragrance.
The bottle also looking quite curvaceous, I felt, represented well, the typical J-Lo curves of which the whole wide world raves about. Basically I was impressed by large.
Was it love at first scent though?

...down when I was given J.Lo Glow as a gift. I'm not the biggest fan of Jennifer Lopez... in fact im not a fan at all. But she does occassionally look ok, and more often than not she looks stunning, so I didnt exactly object to being given a very elegant bottle of her perfume.
And so... with a brave face... I did the unthinkable... I tried a new perfume. Throughout the day a couple of my friends even asked what perfume I was wearing... how observant ... ...fairly tall and curvaceous, like J.Lo herself, made of frosted glass and it is very smooth. There is a very delicate, silver, double necklace which hangs around the neck of the bottle and on the end is a pendant spelling the name J-Lo. The letters are made up of sparkling little diamante gems.... it is oh-so BLING. Strangely though, it is quite pretty, and not as naff as it may sound.

We've all got many vices I'm sure and I'll readily admit I'm drawn to the perfume department in a department store or one of the larger Boot's like a magnet. Saturday was no exception as I wondered round Boot's and started browsing the variety of perfumes on offer. I was only looking and no snap purchase was going to be made I've learnt my lesson. What caught my eye for all the wrong reasons was a bottle of J.Lo's Glow. Nestling side by side with ... ...be designer perfume.
Coty make a variety of different perfumes/aftershaves such delights as "Explanation" you know that perfume with the giant red explanation mark that smells as cheap as it's price tag, Adidas for men and a variety of other colognes that make ideal stocking fillers for your Nan or Great Aunty Ethel. ...I was originally out shopping for the JLo glow perfum but after getting a wiff I decided that I didn't really like it, so not having a clue on what to buy now I decided to test the other perfums in the shop, and grew continually dissapointed as I couldn't find any that impressed me.
That was untill I came across the Carolina Herrera 212 Sexy, after just one smell I new this was the one for me, and lucky me I found a gift pack complete with the 212Sexy body lotion at no extra cost.

This is a nice subtle sweet scent, with a slight floral frangrance.
This fragrance works well with your bodys natural scent without being overpowering.

...Unfortunatley I may seemed biased against this product because I wrote quite a poor review on J.Lo's previous perfume. However the fact that I purchased this item shows that I was willing to give the product a fair try.
I first read about Miami Glow in a magazine and the description sounded very appealing to me. (As all things do when they are written about I suppose!) I needed a new perfume desperately and went to my local Boots to find Miami Glow thinking I could get a tester and try it for myself.
When I found the stand I noticed that if you bought the perfume you got the most gorgeous heart necklace free. I fell in love with the necklace and after a tester of the perfume I bought the smallest bottle available. I left the shop quite pleased with my purchase especially as I got the free necklace....

...I first came across this perfume a while ago when I saw a programme on MTV about the richest celebritys. It showed statistics such as how much they earn per second and what they do for a living. Jenifer Lopez was one of the celebritys on that show and it did a whole section on her perfume 'Glow'. JLo first got the idea for her perfume 'Glow' when she got out the shower one day and smelt the soapy smell you get on your skin after washing. This inspired her to make a perfume that was fresh like the soapy smell after washing. She came up with the idea for 'Glow' and it was manufactured and soon came out into shops.
