Miami Glow was created by Jennifer Lopez and released in 2005 by perfumer Caroline Sabas. It was designed to bring the wearer the flavour of Miami's hot, sexy party scene.
What the packaging is like:
Again (when will perfume manufacturers bring us something different?!) the bottle comes in a cardboard box wrapped in cellophane. The box features a palm tree against a vibrant sunset. The words Miami Glow and J Lo are in bold metallic gold lettering, on the front of the box. The box is very eye-catching and promises a wonderful beach fragrance, which the perfume definitely delivers
on.
What the bottle is like:
The bottle is fairly thin and tall, curving from the bottom to a slender neck. It is made of quite delicate glass in a lovely shimmering bronze colour. The neck of the bottle is adorned with a colourful beach bracelet with a bronzed flip flop charm. I personally would not wear the bracelet but I do think it makes a nice, colourful decoration when left on the bottle.
Average price:
The average price for this scent is £26 for a 50ml bottle. When I first bought this perfume it was advertised as being limited edition and I have found sources on the internet to support the claim that this perfume would only be available for a year. However, although it is no longer possible to find it in the shops, most perfume sites are still selling it and many at a discounted price.
When I discovered it:
I discovered this perfume duty-free, flying back from holiday in Sept 2005. I had some money left and wanted to use it up! They didn't have testers available so I bought this perfume purely based on the attractiveness of the bottle and how much I liked J Lo's original Glow.
What the advertisers say it smells like:
Miami Glow is described as a sexy blend of tropical fruit, shimmering floral notes and sultry amber and musk. Notes include: passion fruit, coconut milk, blackcurrant, orange flower, heliotrope, sun-baked sand, amber, vanilla orchid and musk.
What I think it smells like:
I find Miami Glow a very hard scent to describe. The fruit notes are probably the most easy to detect and it fades off into a gentle lingering musk. Whenever fruit notes are mentioned it can be off-putting as people can find these synthetic and childish. However, Miami Glow is a very sophisticated, seductive scent. The fruit notes give this perfume a definite edge whilst the floral notes sit beautifully on the top, lingering for several hours.
Who it would suit:
I feel that Miami Glow would appeal more to younger people and indeed is apparently designed and marketed to the early twenties. However, I do think people should go with perfume they like, and not be trapped by age, so a great perfume for anyone who loves to party and enjoys the exotic.
How much is needed:
As it should be with good fragrances, only a few squirts are needed to achieve a noticeable, long-lasting scent.
How long the fragrance lasts:
The fragrance will last for several hours, however, with all perfumes, I like to use the occasional extra spritz to maintain the scent at its best level.
Would this make a good/bad gift?
I think this perfume would make a good gift for someone who you were unsure of their tastes, as it sits nicely between fruit and floral, without leaning too far either way. I also think the bright packaging helps make this is a good gift, especially for someone with a summer birthday.
Occasions I would wear it for:
Miami Glow is definitely a summer perfume and a great one for taking on holiday. It suits BBQs and parties on summer evenings, and humid summer nights. It is light enough to be worn in the day but still strong enough to hold its own in the evening. Also great to bring a splash of summer to you on a grey winter day as the perfume really does bring the beach to you! The image that this scent brings to mind is Latino parties on the beach on a summer evening.
Matching lotions etc available:
Despite extensive searching I have been unable to find any matching products in the Miami Glow range. However, I am more than happy to update this review if anyone else knows of any.
Thanks for reading!

good review. i'll try this when i see it. to be honest, i wasn't impresssed with her first perfume 'j.lo glow' so i always stay away from her perfumes afterwards. i'll see if this one changes my opinion about her perfumes.
