Advantages: sixth book in series so the fantasy world is well established Disadvantages: needs a bigger plot
...This is the sixth book in the children of the red king series by JennyNimmo. The book has the same feel comfortable feel as the others in the series but if you are interested in reading this you MUST read the others in the series first.
plot - The Bloors (baddies) are holding Asa Pike (ex baddy, were wolf, turns good in this book) captive withing forest cave. Charlie Bone is asked to come to his aid by Asa's parents. along with the help of his friends 3 magical cats and a magic wand called Claerwen; Charlie comes to the rescue.
audience - aimed at children around the age of 11, this is much like Harry Potter but by no means as richly detailed, JennyNimmo has kept things interesting but simple.
This book will not appear to most people but it is a great read for younger children.

...Midnight For Charlie Bone
by
JennyNimmo
This is a nicely presented first in series about a 12 year old boy, Charlie Bone, who lives with his Mum, his Uncle Paton, his nice Grandmother Jones, and his not so nice Grandmother Bone. Charlie's father was killed in a traffic accident some years previously.
His friend Benjamin lives across the road with his parents and his dog, Runner Bean.
Charlie's life has been almost uneventful until the day he gets the wrong batch of photographs from the shop - and discovers he can hear the voices of the people in them.
This makes his Grandmother Bone strangely happy. She sends for his evil aunts and they pack him off, despite his protests, to Bloor's Academy, a boarding school for gifted children at the other end of town.
And that's when Charlie's life changes. For ever.
The school...

...I'm not by any means an avid book reader and have to be in a mood to actually sit down and start a book but I was recommended this book by a friend and managed to find a copy.
This book is the true story of the author Jenny Cockle.
From a very young age Jenny has been plagued by the same
vivid dreams, that of a young woman named Mary living in Ireland, In the dream Mary was actually on her death bed full of fear pain and anxiety at the thought of leaving her children.
As Jenny grew up more detail appeared in her dreams and she could describe the cottage in detail where Mary lived also the Village and the children, she drew maps of the roads and landmarks and filed these away. Later on Jenny managed to get hold of a map of Ireland and scanned the area which she knew from her dream and there indeed was the village in where Mary had...
