Jeremy Kyle

Let me first describe a little bit about Jeremy Kyle as this is his show after all. His media career started in radio broadcasting. Initially he was a part time life insurance salesman and involved in radio advertising and through this channel of work he secured a job at Invicta FM in 1996. Then he moved through the many radio stations having stints at Virgin Radio and Capital FM. Then in 2005 his popular Jeremy Kyle radio show was transferred into a morning TV show with the same name.

If you have seen shows like Trisha and Jerry Springer and shows of that sort then this is essentially what you get with the Jeremy Kyle show. There is a different topic each episode and then people come in and discuss their life problems. Sometimes the problems are to do with themselves and at other times they are accusing friends and families of cheating on them. It really can vary and let me give you an example of two titles I have seen and I promise you I am not making these up. The first was:

"My Husband cheated on me with my step daughter and now wants me back"

And the second one was

"My Brother stole 40k whilst I was sleeping"

A lot of lie detector tests are used and especially in cases like these where someone who has come on the show wants an answer. It is usually pretty clear to tell who is lying, but there are times when I have been wrong. Also I am making it sound here like I am a regular watcher of the show, however let me assure you that I have just seen this show every now and then on the ITV2 repeats at midday when there is nothing else on or Smallville is on an ad break.

This show has been accused of just paying actors to play the roles of the random people who come on the show, however they must be amazing actors as they all seem very real to me and a lot better than anyone on Coronation Street or Eastenders then so I don't buy this actors argument. However they do clearly look for the scum of this country to put on the show. I am not joking if you see the people on this show they are just plain dirty. Occasionally there is a nice show where they show an amazing person who has survived lots of battles in life, but the majority of shows are just cheating families where everyone detests each other.

This is an attraction for many people to watch the show, as you are guaranteed to see people that are much worse off than yourself and in fact make you feel good about yourself and life in general as you know your life will never be as bad as theirs.

Jeremy Kyle does make his opinion up within the first few minutes and his trademark seems to be where he disagrees with one of the guests and then shouts at them to put his point across (like shouting will actually make a difference) and then the audience applauds and cheers after he does this. It really does get boring pretty fast and he just shouts a lot of the time for the sake of it.

The funny thing is that Jeremy Kyle tries to come across as so self righteous like he is perfect and above all of the guests on his show. In fact if you do a bit of research into his past you will see he is not so perfect. For example he stole his at the time girlfriend from someone else and in a way does he really deserve to be so self righteous. He has no degree in anything related to what he talks about and no qualifications. He is no better than you or I and yet he is making a living telling people where 'he' thanks they have gone wrong and what 'he' thinks they should do. I know it is his show but his opinion is not always right and does affect people's lives. Amongst other things he also had a very bad gambling habit that not many people know about.

One of his radio shows a guest phoned up and criticized Jeremy Kyle. It took him completely by surprise as usually guest's phone up for advice about their personal life. However this guest said he has no right to say his opinion is always right and in fact this guest was right. However all the other listeners phone up and call the guest nasty names and claim Jeremy Kyle to be a god. This is the sole reason why Jeremy Kyle still has his TV show with many viewers and in a way the viewers are no better than him to watch this rubbish. I guess that makes me as bad as him for watching now and then.

At the end of the day this is just how I feel about the show. The only useful purpose it services in my opinion is to make people feel better about themselves by seeing such low life's on this show. Hopefully one day the Jeremy Kyle show will get cancelled, however with viewers watching he may be around for a long time yet.
