...I saw The two of us mylife with John Thaw advertised and as i am a fan of John Thaw i had to go out and buy the book for myself. I bought the hardback book at £16.99 and a few weeks later it had dropped in price.
I read mylife with John Thaw by Sheila Hancock in a few days as i couldn't put the book down. It is Sheila Hancock telling her story of when she met John who was 10 years her junior and his time through his battle with cancer. It includes parts of her diary too and in parts in jumps from telling us of Johns or Sheilas life into when John has his cancer which gets a bit confusing sometimes.
It is a good read as it tells of how two people in love are going through a bad time and trying to fet through it together. There are a few photos of Sheila Hancock and John Thaw through the book from being at a young age up til present...

Advantages: gives you information about Richard Pelzer Disadvantages: dont know.
....
He's managed to release two big sellers "A Brothers Journey" & "A Teenagers Journey" in my opinion they are worse than "A Child Called It" because he sufferd for much longer, but because I read "A Child Called It" first that book chills me to the bone everytime I read it.
All books by all authors are very chilling, especially coz the authorities ignored it. They managed to get David out after years of abuse, but why didn't they take the rest of the children from the mother, why wasn't she sectioned, why did Richard have to suffer for so many years?
Richard Pelzer may not be one of the best authors I've ever read but because he writes about his life, you become absorbed in the story. I cried a lot in both of his books.
I've also heard a rumour that Richard Pelzer committed suicide in July of this year, but haven't found the evidance...

...that painting, drawing, and the search for beauty matter more than ever before.
I read this book recently after having first read it 25 years ago when the show first came out. The original series was repeated on bbc4, Thursday 8th July, Thursday29th July, in a series of double bills, it rekindled my interest in the series. Unless you recorded it then you may have trouble getting the TV show on video, though it is available from the U.S if you know someone over there (Ambrose publishing)
Born in Sydney in 1938, Hughes graduated from that city's St. Ignatius College and went on to Sydney University, where he studied the arts and architecture. He abandoned his course of study at 21 when he was commissioned to write a history of Australian painting.
