John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Curl Perfecter (and for the purposes of this op, shall be known as DC from now on!) is another product from JF designed for us with either naturally curly, or artificially kinked tresses. It is marketed as Step 4 in the recommended regime for attaining perfect curls, I don’t use Steps 1,2, or 5, and am more than happy with the end result I get. Methinks the Step recommendation a clever ploy ... ...‘the look’. For once this ‘sucker’ didn’t fall for that, having discovered alternatative brands of shampoo and conditioner that suits.
Without further ado, lets get on…..
DC comes in a 200ml pump action plastic bottle, the current price at Boots online is £3.99, some may say a tad on the expensive side but I am sure if you shop around you could find it cheaper. I however, do not consider it too expensive. I do not have ... more
I cannot believe no one has written a review about this yet!! Let me remedy that straight away, although ‘straight’ is very definitely not the correct description here! If you are a straight hair fan, and pray to the power of GHD ceramic irons each day….don’t even bother reading any further, you won’t be the slightest interested in this product!!. However, if like me, you have natural curls or covert the wanton curly look, read on, I am about to revolutionise your hair care regime!! As this product has done to mine!!

It is marketed as Step 4 in the recommended regime for attaining perfect curls, I don’t use Steps 1,2, or 5, and am more than happy with the end result I get. Methinks the Step recommendation a clever ploy to get us to purchase more JF products to get ‘the look’.
I do not have many vices, but decent hair care products is one of them, so I would happily pay this, even more so now that I know how damn good it is. Yes, yes I will get around to sharing that with you soon!!
The blurb on the back of the bottle is as follows:
“Breakthrough curl perfecter transforms wilted waves and curls…just spray and ‘scrunch’ for the curls of your dreams…sexy, highly defined swirls and curls that are soft and silky, never ‘crispy’. “
All perfectly true…….
The directions state, for best results to start off with using a little of their Frizz Ease serum, on damp hair (after shampooing and conditioning). I do use the serum too, it is one of my ‘must haves’. And then to spray liberally on damp hair from roots to ends. I have to refute this a little bit, I would not say that you have to use it liberally. I have shoulder length curly hair (in its natural state…….see further down this op for further explanations on the ‘natural state’ description!!) and tend to pump 8 to 10 squirts of this onto my hair and then massage it through, that amount works for me. I have had this bottle since just after Christmas, used every time I wash my hair, every other day, and the bottle is down by about an inch, that’s all.
It disperses neatly throughout your hair, feels non sticky to apply, remains non sticky and well……. is non sticky on your hands too…..always a good thing!! Can’t bear sticky mitts………ewww!!
You are then advised to ‘scrunch’ small sections of the hair gently in fist to help to create waves. Allow hair to dry naturally (I always do) or blow dry using a diffuser with the dryer set on low. This can also be used on dry hair to invigorate curls, although I have never felt the need to do so, my curls are more than invigorated until it needs washing again!
So, following the above instructions what do I make of this stuff, as if you haven’t already worked that out for yourselves! Well I am a total convert! There aren’t may hair care products that I stick with continually, I am a fickle creature and like to swip and swap often. In all the years that I have cosseted and pampered my tresses the only product that has been consistently on my shopping list has been JF Frizz Ease Serum, in fact I have 6 bottles of it in my bathroom cupboard right now, (not that I am paranoid you understand that they might discontinue it!) now I have discovered another one that is going to be stocked up on also!!
It really does give you exactly what it stipulates on the bottle, highly defined swirls and curls that are never ‘crispy’. Although I have naturally curly hair I did find that the day after my hair had been washed the curls were starting to ‘drop’ a little and there was a slight tendency to a touch of the old ‘Crystal Tipps’ frizz again ( fellow 70’s children will know all about CT no doubt!!) Since using this my curls have remained in situ right up to the minute they are drenched in Lush or whatever shampoo I currently favour!!
So then……what is the downside of this? Or indeed is there one? Well there is but it is so small and relatively insignificant that I am not going to drop a star for it. Remember at the top of this op I mentioned about my hair being in its’ natural state and shoulder length? Well after applying this and letting your hair dry, your curls will be so defined and bouncy and swirly etc etc, that your hair will bounce up and look as though you have had a couple of inches lopped off it! Hence the title!! *grin*
If you have seen the photo of me on my, 'My Ciao’ing' op, you might have noticed my hair at its normal length, (well what you can see of it from that picture), compare it with the photo I am (bravely……without war paint!!) going to post here of me the day after I had washed my hair and used this stuff. Not a single centimetre has been cut off, see what I mean about it looking shorter, but hey, look at those curls! If that is the kind of look you are after ( no comments about me please!!!!!!!!! Ha ha!) then I seriously recommend this product to you!
Just call me Tigger………..bouncy bouncy, trouncy trouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun fuuuunnnnn…………

Review of John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Curl Perfecter
...had bought my some of John Frieda’s Frizz Ease products, so I decided to give it a go.
When you use this product, the recommendation is that you allow your hair to dry naturally. Now for a girl who is attached to her hairdryer and the straight results you can achieve, this was a little bit scary. So I used it and the results? Well I liked my curls! They were nice, defined, frizz free curls, something I thought was not possible with my hair. So what ... ...Range? And who is John Frieda?
The frizz ease range is described on their web site as: “Frizz Ease formula instantly transforms dull, dry, frizzy hair into smooth, supple, manageable hair so you can style sleek and straight or create the perfect curls and waves. The bottle states that it will ""transform wilted waves and curls into sexy swerves, curls and spirals." John Frieda is a big name in the hair world. He is a celebrity stylist, and has a ...

...aside, ten out of ten John Frieda -london.paris.new york (it's what it says on the bottle!). This product has made even my stubborn, wilfull hair into a tame managble beast. For the time being at least, I may be winning the battle. I may not have to spend the whole winter wearing a hat with my hair tied back. Hooray! ...

Advantages: Doesn't feel sticky or greasy Disadvantages: Doesn't live up to hype on bottle - "for the curls of your dreams"
As you will see from the general theme of my reviews on here, I am a bit of a product queen, especially when it comes to haircare.
Having shoulder length naturally very curly hair, I have been on a quest for the perfect products both to bring out and define the curls and to made it manageable super sleek and straight pretty much since birth!!!
Every few months in desperation I have a sprint around Boots and manage to spend £50 on products and get ... ...wonder product in my arm full of goodies.
Alas, that wasn't to be for this product. After washing my hair I generally apply Frizz Ease Serum whilst my hair is still dripping wet (as per the instructions on the bottle) before deciding on whether I want to be a curly girlie for the day (or whether I have enough time / be bothered to blow dry and straighten my hair!) I then apply a golf ball sized amount of Pantene Perfect Curls mousse before leaving ...

...two other products in the John Freda Range.
If you spend hours in front of the mirror trying to get your hair as straight as an arrow and not a single wave then don't even bother reading this. However, if you have curly hair that you sometimes find out of control (like I USED to) then you obviously havent tried products from the Guru of whirlie girly curlies!!!
I have always had quite wavy, semi curly hair anyway but I decided that I wanted to ... ...out - the first was John Freda Frizz-ease Curl around shampoo, followed by a curl around conditioner and the third was the Dream Curls curl Perfecter. I couldn't believe I hadn't tried them sooner!! As soon as i was washing my hair the first time and using the conditioner in the shower, my hair felt so much softer and I noticed an amazing difference from my usual shampoo before I had even stepped out of the shower!!! I then climbed out, patted my ...

Advantages: Not Expensive As hair Products Go, Easily Obtained, Fresh Smell Disadvantages: Doesn't Work Very Well On My Tight Corkscrew Curls, Not That Much Effect on Dry Hair
I rushed out and bought some of John's Frizz Ease Dream Curls Perfecter from Tescos (£3.97 for a bottle) about 6 weeks ago after almost shaving off all my long curly hair. I was hating it! I desperately needed something to help tame the frizzies.
So I read about this stuff. I then went out, Clubcard & cash grasped in my sweaty-with-excitement palm and made my purchase! I thought this was it, I would be a frizz free goddess the next day.
So...'the ... ...and applied the Curl Perfector as per the instructions, to my towel blotted hair. Lovely smell by the way....
Now the instructions do say "for best results use with serum" however I have not got any of that stuff so maybe this also has a bearing on my outcome..? I elaborate more below.
Seems I have masses of hair, I spritzed about 10 - 15 spritzes of the potion all over my hair (instead of about 5 - 6 as recommended) and then styled as usual....which ...
