I love conditioner - it's my favourite type of product and I believe its the most important part of my hair care routine, especially as I colour my hair a little too frequently. This product is one of my favourites. I discovered it on a 'bleached' day - I needed a product to rescue some highlighted 'major-league' split ends. I decided that if I couldn't find a product that worked soon I'd get the kitchen scissors out and have a good old snipping session (yes, I was that desperate).
Initially I was put off by the 'Frizz Ease' name - I dont have curly or frizzy hair. But then I thought 'if it can rescue them, surely it can rescue me too'. So I picked it up off the shelf and put it to the test. This is what I found...
Packaging:
A straightforward 'squat' plastic tub with a screw on lid. It looks smart and is also practical - no problem like struggling to get the last little bit at the bottom of the bottle, just scoop and apply...
Product:
The conditioner is white in colour and has a lovely thick consistency. It smells pleasant - not too strong - but I find the fragrance hard to describe, it's not fruity or floral. When you apply the conditioner to your hair it glides on and hair instantly feels silky. I always felt that if I smothered my hair it would work better - because of this it meant that I used up a tub in a couple of weeks. I think you can afford not to use too much (I'll have to learn to restrict myself in future)! The instructions suggest if you use it regularly to leave it on for 5-10 minutes. If you want an intensive conditioningtreatment then to wrap hair in a warm, damp towel and leave for 20 minutes. I've tried both methods and didn't find that the longer option provided any more conditioning than the quicker one. And besides, who needs another wet, conditioner covered towl to deal with?? Conditioner rinsed out easily, and wet hair felt nice and slinky - not a knot in sight!
Results:
Anyone with the same problems as I have knows that you cannot see the true results until you've dried and styled your hair - wet hair is misleadingly smooth. So... I set my hair dryer down a notch (usually it's on 'blast with fire') and dried my hair as usual. To my delight, my hair felt lovely and soft as opposed to dry and brittle as it had been (unfortunately it did nothing to mend my split ends, so I hacked them off anyway) but overall I was suprised and pleased with the results...
Price:
I paid £4.99 for 150ml in Boots. I felt this was quite pricey as it only lasted two weeks, but as this is mostly down to me plastering my hair in it I suppose I cant complain too much!! In comparison to similar products of a similar price, I'd say this one comes out on top... One plus point is that the John Frieda range is frequently on offer in Boots - usually 3 for 2 or something. This is obviously the best time to buy!!
Summary:
Smells good Feels nice to apply Washes out easily - doesnt clog Leaves hair soft but doesnt repair Cost about average for this type of product Available all over the place!
Not quite a miracle, but this is real life...
Where To Buy:
Available just about everwhere - Boots, Superdrug, Major Supermarkets etc...
