I naturally have quite wavy hair which if I just leave to dry naturally goes a bit of the frizzy side, I straighten my hair nearly every day in order to keep it under control, however just recently I have found that my hair isn't staying as straight as I would like a few hours after straightening it. I used to use John Frieda Frizz - Ease on my hair when I was younger but haven't used it for years, I was always please with how it tamed my hair so I decided to give it another go. I browsed the Frizz- Ease products in my local Superdrug and decided on the John Frieda Frizz - Ease Original Formula Hair Serum to see if it would help keep my hair under control.

Packaging
The Hair Serum comes in a small rectangle shiny silver cardboard box, this has the name John Frieda Frizz - Ease written at the top in dark purple writing and Original Formula Hair Serum written just below in a red and grey writing, this is then repeated in a second language.
In the middle of the box is a rectangle window cut out which allows you to see the bottle of hair serum inside, right at the bottom of the box is a picture of a woman showing her hair before using the serum and then what it would look like curly after using it and what it would look like straight after using it, it also states that this is suitable for medium to course frizzy hair.
The back of the box has the words Hair Serum written in large letters across the box in black writing and it is repeated in a second language, the other product information on the back of the box consists of the ingredients and the directions for use, again repeated in a second language, there is not a huge amount of product information on the back of the box but it does tell you what you need to know.
The Frizz - Ease Hair Serum comes in a small clear plastic bottle, it has a silver plastic pump on the top which is covered with a clear plastic lid, this simply clicks on and off. There is a clear label which goes around the whole bottle, this contains pretty much the same information as the box including the name of the product on the front of the bottle in purple and red writing and on the back is the directions of use and the ingredients. The bottle sits inside a clear plastic tray inside the box to hold it in place.

Frizz - Ease Original Formula Hair Serum
The John Frieda Frizz - Ease Original Formula Hair Serum is designed to eliminate dry moderate frizz, it also repels humidity leaving your hair glossy and smooth, it promises to transform frizzy hair into either smooth curls or straight smooth hair, obviously depending on they style you want. The Frizz - Ease Hair Serum also contains heat protection which for me is ideal as I straighten my hair on a daily basis so combined with the heat protector I use I can confidently straighten my hair and know that it is fully protected. The hair serum is totally clear, it has quite a thick syrupy texture to it, it has a very light floral fragrance to it but to be honest once applied to your hair you cannot smell this at all. The serum doesn't have a sticky feel to it at all, in fact it makes your skin feel quite soft, my concern was whether it was going to make my hair greasy.

Directions for Use
As I have mentioned I have used the Frizz - Ease products in the past, however it has been a while so I decided to have a quick look at the directions for use just to check I was doing it correctly. The directions for use included
  • For best results use after shampooing and conditioning your hair
  • Apply to soaking wet hair
  • Use sparingly and apply 1 pump of serum into your hand
  • Rub your hands together and apply evenly throughout your hair avoiding contact with the roots
  • Use more or less depending on your hair length and thickness
  • Do not rinse out and style as desired
I followed the instructions but found that I needed more than 1 pump of serum as my hair is long and thick so this would not have been enough at all, judging the amount I needed was a little difficult as I didn't want to use too much and make my hair greasy but I chanced a couple of extra pumps in the hope that this didn't happen.

Price and Availability
As I have mentioned I purchased my John Frieda Frizz - Ease Hair Serum from my local Superdrug, it cost me £3.99 for a 25ml bottle, I did think it was a bit on the expensive side as you do not get a lot for your money, however after trying it I did discover that it is excellent value for money, you do not need a huge amount at a time, I did need a little more than suggested, however even this did not work out as a huge amount meaning that the bottle lasts a long time making it good value for money.

My Opinion
As I have said my main concern with this product was that it was going to make my hair look and feel greasy, I followed the instructions and didn't put any of the product onto the roots of my hair, instead I rubbed it into the rest of it right through to the ends, the first time I used this I washed my hair late and couldn't be bothered to dry and straighten my hair so I decided to just give it a go, let my hair dry naturally over night and then straighten it in the morning, if it didn't work I would make sure I dried and straightened my hair after washing it the next time. I really didn't expect it to work or that I would notice much difference but as I straightened each section of hair it seemed to be much smoother, I continued around all of my hair and when I looked at it in the mirror I was extremely pleased with how shiny and smooth it looked, my hair looked so much healthier and felt lovely and soft to touch. This smoothness lasted all day, my hair didn't go wavy half way through the day as it had been but remained straight, I was so pleased with the results, I also noticed that the next day when I got up my hair was still pretty much straight despite pulling it back in a band during the evening and then going to bed, all I had to do was straighten the front bits of my hair where they had been in the band, the rest of it was still straight and that never happens with my hair.
The most important thing was that after using the Frizz - Ease Hair Serum my hair did not look greasy at all and it certainly didn't feel greasy.

This product actually worked extremely well, it is excellent value for money and lasts a long while, whilst I need more than the recommended 1 pump of serum it still lasts well.

I will definitely continue to use this product and will be purchasing it again in the future, it really does what it promises and tames my hair transforming it into smooth shiny hair, this is definitely a product that I would recommend to anyone as it really does work.

Summary: A good serum that works well
