John Frieda has gone form a mere salon owner, his first on New Cavendish Street, London, to being a global entrepreneur. He spent years working with chemists to develop his range. His Frizz-Ease Hair Serum ... ...became more popular around 1990. John Frieda then branched out to launch his other products such as Sheer Blonde ® and Brilliant Brunette ®.

Step 1 ~ Smooth start, shampoo, for fine to medium frizz-prone hair
Step 1 ~ Smooth start, shampoo, extra strength formula

I am always on the hunt for something to tame my hair. Once I blow dry it spending ages trying to straighten it, as soon as I go out side it starts to curl and go slightly frizzy, leaving it unmanageable and hard to deal with. So scouring my local Asda store I thought I would take a look for something different to try. I always check out the John Frieda range but never buy as its so expensive, but this time I thought why not, I had just had a bad weeks holiday so needed something to cheer me up, I deserved to be treat.

* What it does*
This has been developed to treat fine to medium frizzy hair. This adds moisture, which helps to control those fly away hairs, cleansing to smooth and improve the texture. Giving your hair a smoother silkier feel. This shampoo also contains essential vitamins, which nourish the hair leaving it more manageable.
* What to look for *
Most of us will know how John Frieda products look. There plain looking, standard white with a silver lid, depending on what strength you need, the higher strength is in a blue pot. There nothing flash to look at but a good size, holding 250mls. It's the price that puts a lot of people off. The shampoo costs £3.78.
* How to use *
Apply shampoo to wet hair, working into a lather whilst massaging into scalp and hair. Rinse thoroughly with warm water, repeat if necessary. To close and smooth hair cuticles, rinse with cool water. Then follow with Step 2 conditioning: (my next review).
* My Opinion *
I followed the instructions to the letter. Paying more attention to my hair rather than my scalp as I have greasy hair so didn't want to stimulate the sebaceous glands. I felt a difference in my hair whilst washing, my hair felt smoother and softer even before conditioning which was a surprise as I always have to condition my hair after every wash as it is unmanageable. The shampoo lathers up really well even with the smallest amount. I used a dollop about the size of a 50p, usually I have to use a lot more or have that second wash. After the first wash my hair felt and sounded squeaky clean. I am also pleased to say this can be used on colour treated hair, which mine is. After the rinsing my hair felt softer and smoother before the conditioning treatment was used. You wont get the full benefits off this product until you use Step 2, which is the conditioning. I have used this continuously over the last 2 weeks, after every wash my hair gets better than the previous wash. I still have shampoo left but no conditioner.
I am over the moon with this shampoo but not very happy about the price, so it's going on my Christmas/birthday/treat list. I will continue to use this as it does what it says it will do. This lasts a long time and goes a long way. I am really pleased how my hair is looking at the moment; it's easier to manage plus feels a lot softer with a healthy shine. Usually by night time my hair is starting to look and feel tired and hard to brush, now I can still rake my fingers through my hair without any problem.
