Having tried almost all budget shampoos and conditioners in an attempt to tame my thick, dry, wavy and frizzy hair I decided to splash out on bottle of Frizz Ease "Straight Ahead" shampoo and conditioner. I had heard good reviews for the products, and given the designer name (and accompanying designer price) it certainly sounded a promising option. I bought both the shampoo and conditioner on special offer for £3.18 for each 250ml bottle (considerably more expensive than the 800ml of Loreal products I was previously buying for £3).
Packaging: The container is a smooth flexible tube, both the shampoo and conditioner look the same (only the shampoo tube is a shade lighter) so its quite difficult telling them apart in the shower! They are quite glossy meaning when wet they tend to slip out your hands alot.
Smell: Being a typically female marketed product I was expecting strong floral scents as with most shampoos, but was surprised to smell quite a chemical-based smell, its certainly not well perfumed or particularly pleasant. The shampoo is quite creamy (not clear).
Results: After using the shampoo as directed, and then rinsing, my hair felt very coarse in the shower, and once air-dried feels very brittle and frizzy at the ends; not exactly the smooth frizz-free hair I had been expecting. Combining with the conditioner does little to improve the effect.
Overall: When buying the product I expected at the very worst that it might not work with my hair. However, I did not anticipate that it would make my hair worse than previously. Had the product been cheaper (say £1.50 a bottle maximum) I would have accepted these results, but given the recommended price of £4.50 a bottle I'd say its a bit of a kick in the teeth. I would certainly not recommend this, or other Frizz-Ease products, and am personally going back to buying cheaper brands.
